Zach Collaros fractured his ankle in the loss to WVU and will miss the rest of the regular season. There is a chance he could be back for the bowl game. Munchie will have to take control of the offense and play well. I have confidence that he can.

Yes it is, "next man in". However, I put it at less than a 50% chance of the Bearcats winning the Big East and going to a BCS Bowl. It may come down to a 3 or 4 team tie breaker.

People ask why would Boise want to join the Big East. Simple, a 5-2 Big East Champion goes to the Orange Bowl, an 11-1 Boise team does not go to a BCS Bowl game, it is all about the AQ.

I am one of the few who believe Zach gets a little too much credit. I would rather have Zach but I am excited to see Munchie play.

If the defense shuts out the next three opponents I guarantee UC wins the games. The next 3 games will be decided by defense not offense.

I have faith in Munchie and while we will miss Zach, Munchie brings an added dimension to the team with his legs and running ability. When he sets his feet, he throws a good ball. The game that concerns me in the last 3 is Syracuse because it is at noon in the Carrier Dome. That place is a dump and the lighting for early games sucks.

How old is Munchie? as in--is this a look into what UC has in the future?

Munchie is a sophomore. He was highly recruited out of high school by the likes of Oregon, Michigan, Colorado, Cincinnati, and Baylor. He needs to improve his technique and his footwork but the kid has a rocket arm and can run. He is the future for the Bearcats. Don't forget he played WR last year for this team when all our receivers were injured. He is a great athlete and can definitely help us win games this season.

Muncie's future may still be as a wide receiver. Pat Coyne is waiting in the wings.

I can agree to that. It was good he got the playing time he did vs. WV. Hopefully he won't be so tentative by next week. With the rest of our schedule, I think our D should keep us in games so that Muncie doesn't have to be a superstar. He will need to keep the TO's to a minimum and keep Pead well fed.

... Zach cost us the WVU game. He needed to get rid of the ball and he didn't. He may have dug us out of the hole, if he wasn't injured, but we should have won that game out right.
Munchie does well when he sets his feet. I'm looking forward to a pocket passer who can see over the line and use the tight ends. I feel bad that's how Collaros's season ended, but it may not be for the worst. How many TO's did he have that lead to opposing teams points? How many times in league play have we fallen behind with him at the helm?

Munchie improved during the game, I have confidence he'll get better, as he takes more reps.

Did anyone talk to Washington and Stanford at the game on Saturday? They say they are announcing their college choice one week from today.

No but apparently the recruits had a really good time Saturday night. I saw some retweets of current commits saying how much fun the trip was.

I don't think Zach get's too much credit, I'm just not sure he's the exact fit for Butch's offensive scheme. Butch runs a true spread option offense where as BK ran an all out spread "air-raid" type of an offense. Zach has mobility that was effective in BK's scheme but he doesn't have the type of mobility that is going to be a perfect fit for Butch's offense.

To really have success in our scheme you need a Pat White type of QB, hopefully Munchie can develop into that type of player. He has the wheels but don't expect him to come in and be lights out. Our passing game is going to take a hit with Collaros out, hopefully Munchie can develop into the role nicely over the next couple of weeks.

I still think we have a good chance of winning out and securing the BCS birth. I believe that Rutgers will be our biggest challenge. I think if we win this weekend we'll have the confidence we need to get the job done with Munchie. GO CATS!
