Funny that you think he'll be in the NBA. That must be the same thing his handlers are telling him. He must think he's a one and done player. I wonder if he's still on campus attending classes.

I don't necessarily think he will be in the NBA. It's too early to tell. I guess I should have thrown an "IF" in there.

I wish him the best of luck, though I wish Lawrence stuck it out, for some people being away from home is hard coupled with the fact that he might have had some folks in his ear.

I agree with Mick, Cincinnati will be fine with Ellis as a replacement for this year.

I feel the same way. Hope things turn out for the kid.

It will be very easy to replace 2.9 pts/game and 33% FG, 42% FT. JL shot 17% from the field in conference play. He must have got those 5 stars from playing in a Wed night church league.

It's absolutely hilarious how many people on this board used the signing of Jermaine Lawrence as a landmark moment for the program and how many of those same people just dismiss the fact that he's leaving as if it's no big deal. When Lawrence was out last year many people talked about how we needed to get him back and how having him out of the lineup was hurting us.

JL was going to be a good player, and probably still will be a good player somewhere. Being a highly rated recruit doesn't guarantee a future in the NBA or a one and done status.

If landing JL was a big success for this program then losing him is a big loss for this program. Having your highest rated recruit leave after one year with the team isn't exactly a ringing endorsement for the next highly rated guy we try to recruit.

I wish JL the best of luck and hope he one day figures it out and lands in the NBA. He's got all the raw ability, just needs to find the right place to put it all together.

you right that's why I don't see where JL leaving because of position when Mick said he was out of position and was expecting big things out of him at natural position. Both our 4/5 play in post so where was Mick saying he was going to play? We know not the 5 we have 3 big bodies on roster.

Martin didn't necessarily have a better freshman year considering that he got homesick and actually bussed back home to Dallas his freshman year while trying to get qualified, but his older sister convinced him to stick it out. In this day and age that probably would have been all over Twitter.

BTW, he was recruited by Connecticut, Arizona, Syracuse, Kansas and Kentucky but there were concerns that he wouldn't qualify academically which is why they never got too seriously involved.

So he (JL) received 3 offers: Tulsa, UNLV, and UC according to ESPN
KMart shot 65% from the field his freshman year vs 33% by JL
KMart also was a very good shot blocker and defender his freshman year and the number of blocks he had in the limited minutes he played bear that out.
On the other hand, JL was pushed around by smaller players, regularly got his shot blocked, and shot 17% in AAC games.

No comparison on who had the better freshman year. The rating services got this one wrong. JL should have been rated much lower by these ratings services. I'm glad we've got an open roster spot for someone who will contribute much more this year or next.

You just hit on the biggest concern I have about losing him. How does this affect our NY pipe line? I also thought he would develop into a very good player. Really feel this is a big loss for the cats.

I think people are just choosing not to dwell on it.

Lance Stephenson is still more important to the NYC pipeline than Jermaine Lawrence. I wish Jermaine well.
