I've heard he is gone for sure and it's because of a family member is sick. This is from one of the players parents.

Heard that as well. In that case everyone who has blasted him on this forum should absolutely be ashamed of themselves. What's wrong with reserving judgement until the facts come out? If he comes and confirms this story then we should send him support.

Come on now. We didn't know the facts. Nobody expected it to be something along these lines. People are allowed to speculate without knowing everything. None of us will ever know the full details.

Geez, kick people while they're down, why don't ya.

Seriously doubt that story...rumors of his dissatisfaction go back to last year. Sounds more like a disgraced politician who quits to "spend more time with the family". I know nothing....maybe he's totally content in Cincy & has a close family member who's ill & he wants to help take care of them etc. in that case, I'm sure he'll join a school really close to his home.
Thought this link is more on target though

He did say he missed home every other day on twitter. Lets be real though the family member sick is his way of not having to sit out.

I'm personally not crazy about the idea of this board getting into the business of shaming one another. If someone regrets something they said, they are free to speak for themselves to set the record straight.

If this story has any merit, then it is probably a good decision for both him and the team that he moves on. I can understand him WANTING to be a SF but the fact is his skill set doesn't really fit that position. Personally, he could have been a stretch 4 with an improved consistency on his jumper. You get drafted in the NBA and make your money based on your ability to create mismatches. Durant is 7 foot (or close enough to it) with a lethal jumper. LeBron is a tank who also happens to be the fastest player in the league from basket to basket. Carmelo is a gifted scorer who can play inside and out. All of these guys have something in common: very few can guard them without giving up something in the process.

That would not have been the case with Jermaine without some incredible improvement on his quickness and shot. He could have posed some match up concerns at the 4, however. With an improved jumper, he would have stretched the floor and forced bigger guys to come out and guard him. Those guys he could go around on the dribble. Smaller guys he could have just shot over and would have killed on the glass or by posting up. I am convinced that this is the vision the coaching staff had for Jermaine but, unfortunately, it doesn't appear that he saw the same thing. I wish he would have looked at Justin Jackson as a perfect example. Once JJ bought in to what the coaching staff had envisioned for him, he became an all conference type of player. Too bad it took JJ so long to realize it but better late than never.

Regardless, I wish Jermaine well if he does elect to move on. If not, I will gladly welcome him back with open arms. His decision to leave, doesn't affect me though. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

from PW this site for 5+yrs its only about 3-5 guys in here. Seems everybody uses multiple accounts. I still don't understand why wait to blast him if leave but praise him if stay.

It would've been nice if he came back and we continued to develop him but all season, I was concerned about his motor (or lack thereof). I know some people look different than others but I just got the impression that he was not getting after it the way our players are expected to in the way of rebounding and defense.

Who knows what the reasons are? Either way, best of luck to him. I hope for his sake if he goes somewhere that is going to let him develop at the 3 spot, then I really hope they light a fire under his ass.

My main point is after watching him last year and with the influx of big men...I don't think this is a huge deal. It'd be better if he stayed but to me, this isn't a huge loss.

More excited about our youth and Shaq's evolution in the offseason.

If he was unhappy with his position/role, it can be very hard to be motivated on the court and in practice. This could be what you saw in terms of a lack of motor. Of course, this is pure speculation and I still think the injury in HS and the one last year had a lot to do with his struggles.

I don't get why he'd be so bothered by being labeled as a "4". His ability to rebound and guard big guys would only help his value. Plus Mick will give guys freedom offensively. If he were to develop a legitimate perimeter game, Mick would be the first one telling him to shoot. But since he wasn't particularly effective this year, we couldn't sacrifice a top 10 ranking to let him get his rhythm. Seems like a selfish attitude to expect unlimited shots when you shoot 33% FG under 50% FT and have a 1st team AA on your team.

Thx, couldn't copy the link on my phone for some reason

From that article,

"It would appear that Jermaine is convinced that he is the next Kevin Durant, and will do his best to go somewhere that will let him try to be the next KD. That's ultimately what this is about."

Bingo.

I tend to agree. If he can stay healthy, I think he has a chance to be a really good player. I hope he lands at a school where he can develop and have success.

he looked more 6'8-6'9 in high school now he's close to 7' he needs to adjust his game. He could have tried be KD in rubles type role and Mick already came and said he wasn't going to play center. Don't think position really has anything to do with it.

agree 100% plus its kinda hard playing for 90seconds at a time. I think we get better attitude and performance from players when they are comfortable enough to make mistakes without being pulled.

That is one thing I do have against Mick coaching style. I think a lot of times you did see guys looking over there shoulder after a mistake. Confidence is big anything you do.
