he can't play in the big east. He is not going to develope in another 2 years. Gaines was a swing and miss by Mick.
He doesn't have to play in the Big East, He only needs to be good enough for the AAC, which he probably is.

He isn't good enough for AAC, he will be average at best in the Sun Belt. He has no post moves, he will never be a scorer. He will probably rebound and block shots.....
Sounds like our front court this year. They played in the Big East and made the tourney.
With Cheikh Mbodj, who scored 5.1 ppg and 4.7 reb with 90 blocks. Gaines couldn't get near the rebounding or scoring totals Cheikh reached, and Cheikh was a mediocre BE player. .5 ppg and 1.4 reb per game wouldn't get you anywhere in the BE, even if it is combined with Dave's 2.6 ppg and 2.5 reb. Dave's biggest problem wasn't really skill set, although he was a little raw. His biggest problem was getting used to the conditioning required to play college b-ball and the fact that he needs to add some muscle. Gaines, while he was the perfect size, had no common sense or basic basketball iq. I wish him the best and I think it is better for both parties that they go off separate ways, but he couldn't cut it as more than somebody that you put in for a few minutes a game.
I would put money on Gaines beating Cheikh's scoring and rebounds if given the same amout of playing time.
Yeah, in the Sun Belt maybe, but not the BE...
