Look I understand he's had limited action. My point was I am not as concerned with Clark going down as I am with others going down. I don't know why everyone is getting so worked up. Tre has played really well.

Hey all! Just a quick synopsis of myself and then a comment on the quote above. I have been coming to this site for 8-9 years now I guess and have maybe posted two or three times, but I would like to start getting in on the conversation. Hardcore basketball fan and season ticket holder, and watch every game possible for as long as I can remember and I am 36 years old. I'm excited about the next several years of this program and like the direction things are going as far as player personel. Love that Mick has changed direction a bit and seems to be interested in being in kids that can shoot and score the ball, and are not just athletes that can play D and may develop into descent offensive players in 4 year.
Tre Scott is good

Gary Clark is great

As for the Gary being great and Tre being good thing, I don't really agree. I like Gary, and don't have negative to say about the kid. He is obviously a good kid and a attribute to the program and I am glad he is a bearcat. With that said, way too many people on here put him in a category he simply is not in. If Tre Scott came into the program the player his is right now, at this moment, the same year Gary that came in, he would have done more if not better than what Gary did. That is not a knock on Gary at all, just saying that Tre's skills are a little more polished than Garys. I didn't say he was better, but more skilled. He gets up and down the floor better, has better ball handing, probably a better passer, and has a smoother jump shot than Gary. I'm sure Gary is quite a bit ahead of Tre in many other qualities since he is the more experienced player, but when it's all said and done, I believe Tre will be the better player when each one of them leave at their respective times. Just my 2 cents

Against Lipscomb. Not at Iowa State. He may play great if Clark is out. I hope he does. But it's a tall order for someone with such little D1 experience.

Well said Jake. Clark is a beast on the glass and a great defender. Actually the conference defensive player of the year. I think people forget that at times. Also our depth takes a huge hit if he can't go. Losing Gary is HUGE. I think Scott is doing very well but he is not Clark on either end of the floor and if we get in foul trouble we are in a real hole.

I'm with you. You're not even saying Scott is better than Clark. Just that Scott filling in for Gary isn't a MASSIVE drop-off. It is early, and you don't want to exaggerate, but Scott has looked solid. I like his game and don't think him filling in for Clark will kill us. Losing Evans or Washington would be a whole different story.

Losing any of our big 4 is huge. TC, Evans, Washington or Clark. On the road were foul trouble happens more times then not makes Gary's loss a big concern. I think Scott has done well but lots of guys look good against the cupcakes of the world.

Precisely! Thanks for getting my point.

Obviously we don't want anyone to get hurt. The point was about the drop off in production from the next man in. The way Scott has played... I think he's an adequate back up. iMO we would see a bigger drop off at several other positions.

Please define adequate.

Guess we will have to agree to disagree. Losing Gary even with how Scott played is huge. Clark was going to guard Burton. If he doesn't play it means Scott will take on that role. Im not comfortable with that at all. From a depth or talent situation.

I wasn't specifically talking about ISU. It's a general comment. You can look up the definition of adequate. Satisfactory or acceptable are two synonyms.

The drop off after Washington and Evans would be much greater than Clark to Scott.

either way I will need to see more of Scott. Losing a all league defensive player is not a good thing. Short or long term. Especially when this could be one of a few signature wins out there for us.

It would still reduce our chances of winning a key game. Which is the biggest drop off is not important at this time. We play Thursday night and if Gary doesn't play we will be less then our best.

I didn't say or insinuate it was a good thing.

Im aware. I think your comment is on who on our team would create the biggest hole if we lost them while my comments are centered how it would impact are ability to win Thursday. Losing Gary is big if it happens.

Gary got hurt. That's why it is important at this time. Obviously I would love to see him play.

Me as well. As someone who has played sports and competed most of my life being out with a injury and not being able to do something you love is very difficult. Couple that with the possibility of missing this game and the fact he had to endure being limited in the tourney last year as well and it has to be hard. Personally is Gary is healthy against St. joe's I think we win and advance. These guys work hard for these moments.

Not a good thing at all heading into Thursday night. However, if you asked me pre season who would create the biggest drop off in the case of injury I may have said Clark. At this point in the season after seeing Washington and Evans play...and with the way Scott has played so far... I am less inclined to say that.

I sure hope Gary plays because I think he gives us a better chance to win!
