Again the "Biggest Game in the Mick Cronin Era" but now I may agree. If we win we will go to 16-10 and 7-7 in the Big East and still on the outside looking in for the tournament.

I have much more faith in this team at the shoe. On the road they are turrible.

Just for the sake of conversation, IF UC wins this game and beats Depaul what else would we have to do to get in? That would make us 17-10 and 8-7 in the Big East.

I am starting to believe if we get 19 we are squarly on the bubble. 20 gets us in IMO and 18 or less keeps us out. (including the Big East tournament.)

Agree?

5 games remaining:

Marquette (Must Win)
DePaul (Must Win)
@ WVU (L)
'Nova (Must Win)
@Georgetown (L)

We need to win our home games, period. That gets us to 18-10. We need to steal one from WVU or Georgetown. That gets us to 19-11.

19-11 heading into BigEast Tournament play is squarely on the bubble and "maybe" gets us in. One win in the BE Tourney gets us to 20 wins and squarely in, regardless of the opponent, IMO.

We're not dead by any stretch of the imagination. We need to beat Marquette.

conference only games in that category (65.3 points per game).

The squad’s field goal percentage defense, however, ranks among the bottom of the 16-team league. Through 25 contests, MU’s opponents are shooting 44.3 percent (15th) from the floor and in conference action that number jumps to 46.6 percent (13th).

Marquette’s opponents are taking advantage of the team’s lack of size inside. The Golden Eagles are holding enemy shooters to convert at a 30.5 percent clip (3rd in BIG EAST) from behind the line, but allowing opponents to knock down 49.8 percent of their two-point opportunities.

The loss to Pittsburgh is a perfect example of that trend. The Panthers shot just 4-of-14 (26.3 percent) from distance, but jumped to 67.9 percent (19-of-28) inside the 3-point line.

Agreed with all of the above. We certainly have our work cut out for us but STILL have every opportunity to make it to the dance. If we go to the Big East tourney with 19 wins I like our chances, and even if we go with 18 wins we can still make it in with a decent showing.

Marq is a beatable opponent at home. For whatever reason we seem to play well every other game, so hopefully we can bring our A game tomorrow.

Thomas, Toyloy, and Gates need to work the inside. I also expect LS to have a bigger impact on this game. He, Cash, and DV need to take control and pass and dish.

We should shoot no more than 10 three pointers today. The majority of our shots need to to be in the paint or from Rashad and Lance curling on the elbows.

What I would really like to see is Lance handle the point and use the pick and roll with Yancey.

Hopefully Marquette will be under the impression that Lance is going to be using his size advantage and take it to the hole but instead lets use his passing ability and give a quick dish for an open Yancey.

I would like to see somebody not named Deonta or Lance move without the ball. Our offense sucks mostly due to lack of motion.

I couldn't agree more. That is how we killed Uconn in the paint in the second half. Curl all screens.

I will be pi$$ed if we shoot any contested 3s. I have no problem with a select few shooting wide open 3s, but NOTHING contested.

Cincinnati is a 2 point favorite.

LOVE that we are 2 pt favorites. This is a huge game and has Big East tourney implications. One thing we need to start looking at/worrying about is our seed and who we play. I said from the beginning of the year that this team's tournmanent fate will be made in the Big East tourney.

As far as today's gameplan......pound the ball inside to Yancy. Hope we worked with him this week on sealing his defender and for the guards to throw quality entry passes from the wings. IMO in order for the cats to win...Yancy, Toyloy, and Thomas need to be very active down low and dominate this game.

GO CATS!

I totally agree with pounding the ball in. Like to see UC utilize the deep corner more with Cash or Dixon...someone who can shoot the three (somewhat) or better yet, pass the ball inside or get by the lone defender with a quick dribble. Other teams are sometimes able to do this very well against a zone.

Exactly. The thing I am most disappointed with this year is our lack of penetration. I know he is a freshman but I expected Lance to drive at will. We heard how quick Cash is and of his scoring statistics in high school but haven't seen him utilize these talents.

I would give those two freedom to get in the lane and encourage them to. It seems like in Maui those two were getting into the lane (we did see a lot less zone) at will. I remember thinking how is so quick and can get to the rim whenever he wanted. He just had a tough time finishing. If we get into the lane that will open up passing lanes to yancy or toyloy for EASY finishes. This needs to be a point of emphasis for our youngesters.

Cash is finishing better inside than initially. I think he stopped doing it, as he lost confidence (and rightfully so). Now he's shooting better, and making baskets. He, LS, and DV need to make it a point of focus.

Open 3's are killing UC. Do NOT leave your man to help out. Force them to take contested shots, especially from deep.

Davis is on fire, but our ability to drive inside is not so good right now. Keep giving it to the big guys.

10-0 Cincy run. Amazing what ball movement and defense can do for you.

Nice hustle by Gates to run down, get the miss from Cash and the follow lay-up.
