Marquette vs. UC

That is not FACT that is your uneducated opinion. What is fact is that Cash has been one of the best PG's in the BE this year. Without a big to throw the ball to or a first rate back up to get spell him he has been arguablly the best player on the team. If you haven't or can't recognize that I really can't have a intelligent conversation with you,. Have a nice day.

I think you might be a little confused on what "fact" means (and also what ready2go actually asked).

As for your comment regarding SK:

SK outscored Marq in the first half by himself on uncontested jumpers. When Buzz Williams woke up and guarded SK the cats struggled in 2nd half. We must be watching a different game.

We must be watching a different game because 1) SK didn't outscore Marq all by himself in the first half and 2) SK scored 13 in the first half (Marq also scored 13 btw) yet he went on to score 36 for the game. He was 5-13 in the first half on those "uncontested jumpers" and 6-10 in the second half and OT period. So how exactly did Buzz Williams wake up and decide to guard SK in the second half?

That is sooo far fetched cuz he has a horrible shot.......

He is shooting 44% from 3 so by getting him the ball off screens to shoot wide open 3's is horrible idea???? Hahah please
Who is going to get him the ball???? Cash, Parker and SK get their shots NOW. When Rubles or Jackson contribute they win. You really can't understand that???? Who brings the ball up? Who drives and dishes besides Rubles who usually sits becasue of foul problems. If Parker runs the PG he doesn't help rebound. SK doesn't have the handle. Are you really that short sighted? Yes, again by all means lets take the ball out of his hands and make him a shooting guard.

I'm sorry I stand corrected he matched them. Buzz boxed and one him the second half. he was daring the other guys to beat him. Until the later part of the second half SK was not getting the ball.

Regardless, he had more points while shooting a better percentage in the second half. I don't know how you can say UC struggled in the second half because Marquette decided to guard him.

we blew a 16 point lead. We held on to win in overtime. you did see them box and one him in the second half. He played a great game. he worked for every point he got. The announcer made a comment saying he didn't touch the ball for a 7 minute stretch. I'm not trying to take anything away from Sk but he got 36 when Marq was trying to face guard him the whole second half. they cut a 16 point lead and forced overtime. How many did he get in OT. how many did he get at the Ft line when they were putting us on the line.

Right, their offense wasn't great in the second half which is what I stated earlier. But it wasn't because Marquette all of a sudden tried to guard SK. Statistically speaking SK had a better 2nd half. Of course they didn't blow a 16 point lead because of their offense either. They did give up 50 points in the second half (which thankfully they won because that is terrible).

Listen, I don't think that moving Cash to 2 guard is the answer. However, if a few of times a game (when we are not being pressed), Rubles or Parker brought the ball up court and there were a designed play for a Cash three, that would be a pretty good idea.

I understand what's being said about the ball moving better without Cash in there...and that's likely out of necessity. I'm sure it was preached all week that we need to pass and take turns bringing the ball up, driving and moving around because Cash isn't there to pick up the slack. While I don't think our offense is better off that way (and don't think that is actually what's LH & R2G are suggesting), I do think that this little exercise of playing without Cash could be good to our team. Just from last game:

-Sanders took open 3s and hit a couple
-We found out Rubles can bring the ball up court
-Sean took a step forward in attacking offensively, including drives
-Parker had a bunch of assists
-Rubles took the ball to the hoop pretty well...not as out of control

We all want Cash for the long haul but if the above stuff can continue when Cash comes back, that is hugely positive.

NOTE: We don't even know for sure that he is not playing today...an educated guess would tell you that he's not but he could march out there.

Well said. I agree.

I've said many times that a few designed plays for Cash playing off the ball would be a smart move.

Yes thank you for clearing that up for "wait" and I think thats exactly what I was saying in my initial comments but for some reason anytime I comment he gets his panties in a bunch.

It is true the ball flow better.

I think the offense moved better because it was Marquette. Marquette plays soft defense. Look at last year's game when Parker owned them at home by just putting his head down and going to the hoop. Marquette does not play aggressive on defense and take advantage of Big East refs that will let you body up on guys and even arm bar a guy at times. I think Mick knew he could rest Cash against them because of this fact. With that said I will say when a major player is out for one reason or another it makes every other player focus more on their role and maybe do something they don't normally do.
