All that inferior talent we've been getting, sure got it's tail kicked last night...

For as much as we lack post production offensively, I'm impressed by how much we have in the way of effort and blocking.

I still can't believe that Gaines cant bring what our other post players do... what could be worse about him? Defense positioning? He looks like a monster athletically...

hopefully he's ready next year. maybe he needs confidence and more learning of the plays. it takes big men awhile to develop and remember he is a project

He's got the natural God given ability, I think it's just footwork and maybe positioning. I think Nyarsuk and Mbodj make heady plays (though Nyarsuk makes better passes) I think they play good D and rebound well but as foul prone as they are, I'd really prefer to see another big man than Jackson playing the 5. If given a chance, I think Gaines could hold his own. We'll take the training wheels off next season and see I guess.

On the upside, it's nice to have 3 bigs foul out and still have another at the end of OT lol

Obviously I was hoping we would win, but I was really worried about going to a 2nd OT with Gaines the only big man left.

A buddy of mine went to the game with a group of us (3 UC fans,2 Marquette fans and him as a neutral) and his one comment after the game was, "you guys don't have anything offensively in the post, but damn, your bigs block everything." He kept praising the positioning which goes back to coaching along with instincts.

Anyone know what the ruckus was about during the national anthem? I heard a bunch of noise in the cheap seats behind the Cats bench.

............................without Cash................

There almost seemed to be better ball movement w/out Cash. Maybe look for him to play shooting guard if or when he comes back. With his shot Id welcome it

You really need to watch morre games and post less. Yes, by all means lets take our best ball handler and penetrator and make him a shooting guard. You need help!!! If Cash would have played against Marq. they wouldn't have ever been in the game. Better ball movement???? What game were you watching. I saw Parker laboring to get the ball up the court. Our back up PG was in way over his head for this stage of his career. Rubles is the only one who gave us a mismatch. As usual the guys played hard. The fact they came out on top was a tribute to their toughness and will to win. Moving Cash to shooting guard would be the worst thing mick could do.

Let me preface this by saying that I in no way shape or form think this team is better off without Cash, however, I thought their offense flowed better against Marquette in the first half than it has in a while. I'm guessing a lot of that has to do with the fact that they rely on Cash a lot and probably sometimes settle into the routine of letting him do his thing compared to when he was out they really had to focus more on ball screens, movement, etc since they knew they couldn't rely on Cash.

Of course maybe it was just bad defense by Marquette. But I thought their first half offense was pretty good up until the last few minutes of the half.

They scored 29 points? SK outscored Marq in the first half by himself on uncontested jumpers. When Buzz Williams woke up and guarded SK the cats struggled in 2nd half. We must be watching a different game. To even suggest the cats were flowing better offensively in the first half without cash is insane. Whats crazier is that Buzz Williams took a half to figure out that stopping SK would win him the game. The guy on here suggesting he is a better coiach then Mick is a simpleton.

You need to not take things so personal.

It was obvious there was a better flow. That is not a knock on Cash at all. When he plays he has a lot of pressure to carry the offense. Without him in the game, each player had to do more to get good looks. We finally were able to get the ball inside the arch early in the shot clock. We had guys running the baseline. Our bigs were setting screens.

Killa had OPEN looks at the 3 for once vs contested jumpers because of our ability to move without the ball and quick passes

Im truly not sure what game you were watching to suggest otherwise. We put up 71

Absolutely do not take your comments opersonally or I wouldn't waste time responding to you. Fact is if you think our flow was better and we should move cash to Shooting guard you really don't know the game. If it offends you having to read that I'm sorry but your Basketball IQ is not very high.

What was factual in that comment? Please enlighten us

Cash dribbles too much outside the paint waiting on that high ball screen. That is the offense with him. Without him Mick knew we couldnt do that and the guys responded

Until the DePaul game Cash really wasnt even effective driving the ball. He often got stuck to deep or would make dump passes in traffic. That is fact

If you read what I said I mentioned up until the last few minutes of the first half. They had 25 points with four and a half minutes left in the first half. And they only had 5 fast break points the entire game so most if not all those 25 points came within the half court offense. That's better than it has been in a while with the exception of the Depaul game.

That is not FACT that is your uneducated opinion. What is fact is that Cash has been one of the best PG's in the BE this year. Without a big to throw the ball to or a first rate back up to get spell him he has been arguablly the best player on the team. If you haven't or can't recognize that I really can't have a intelligent conversation with you,. Have a nice day.

Looks like im getting under your skin.

As I said it is not a knock on Cash. And of course he has been valuable to this team cause he has carried the offense. If anything I think without him the team relied heavily on ball movement. That you cannot argue.

As for my bball knowledge, father, I am quite knowledgable and the eye does not lie

I never said you did. you wanted to move him to shooting guard. LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is sooo far fetched cuz he has a horrible shot.......

He is shooting 44% from 3 so by getting him the ball off screens to shoot wide open 3's is horrible idea???? Hahah please
