I don't think our D was stellar by any stretch but it was not awful. My point is the have a great deal of speed on the whole team. They have good players who make plays. Like the shot they hit at the end of the half I believe. Faked Caupain at the 3, then Ellis, and proceeded to make a very tough shot. Good players.

I liked watching this Memphis team more than any of the past few years.

I completely agree. Our defense still has so many holes. It was really poor last night. Majority of Memphis's 3's were wide open. I just don't understand why we constantly look like we are scrambling around and out of position. Why is our defense such an issue when we have all returning players from last year except for 1 or 2 guys?
Why don't we play more straight man?? BC of TC foot speed? Not picking on TC just wondering. Would that not decrease wide open threes? Or we can't get through screens

All I got to say is thank god for Memphis and Josh Pastner. The only team in the country that can make Shaq Thomas and Titus Rubles look like NBA players.

The other really nice thing about the game, if I remember all the details, we went up 9. They ended up taking a three point lead. We did not fold. We made plays down the stretch and won the game

Straight man to man is easiest defense in game to score against. Factor in the new emphasis on no hand checking help defense is much needed.

Not sure honestly. I am really perplexed by our defense this year. Years past, we have played this mash up, switch up zone really really well. I loved it bc we basically had 4, sometimes all 5 guys be able to switch off and guard whoever. It's caused major problems and was hella fun to watch.

This year, that is def not happening. Our guys are getting beat off the dribble. Our help defense is not very good. It's glaring this year we don't have a cohesive unit on defense. Not sure why this year it's such a problem.

Our guys were finally attacking the rim Thursday love seeing this

This is key from here on out IMO. Too often these guards get to comfortable taking shots behind the arc and with the size of our guards makes absolutely no sense. They drain the clock and are forcing threes which is never a good attack. Drive and dish will lead to more open shots and easy points, i cant believe our coach doesnt go over this with these guys.

I agree it's the difference. If I was cronin I would be riding kj troy and Evans to attack that rim all day.(shaq too if he continues going in strong). Troy has great height for a PG at 6'4" he's learning to finish he was kind of using a little jump stop Thursday to avoid getting blocked (he should study sk senior year that man knew how to finish in the lane and he was just 6'4") and kj is so athletic he should be slashing all game
