Thanks for that Jacob. It's hard to equate what Mick is saying about beating the defense down the court and pushing the pace, with what we have seen most of the year. It's almost like he's telling them to run and the players are just not doing it, or maybe instead of linking all the players into this statement, it could just primarily be Caupain. I saw Cobb get a rebound last night and instead of turning and getting out in transition, he turned the opposite way and went toward the opponents basket and let everyone clear out down the floor before he turned and finally slowly advanced up court. But, Caupain was noticeably throwing some longer passes down court in transition last night....a lot more than usual. So maybe we're finally seeing a positive change occurring. It's still mind-boggling how when we push the pase and play faster, that the defense gets noticeably worse. Playing faster on offense should have no effect on defense, unless running so much on offense is getting them more fatigued and affecting the quality of their defense.
I still think we should be beating teams like Memphis and Houston by bigger margins at home, and I think it is the defense that's causing that. It's a lot of the same guys who we thought were really good defensively last year, so it doesn't make sense.
