Lol did I strike a nerve? And yes, all you have done is complained in this entire thread. Enjoy repeating yourself about things you have no control over. But this is a message board, that's about the only thing you've got correct so, party on Garth.

No, you didn't strike a nerve. I just don't feel like getting banned again for having an unpopular opinion so I'll stay out of the one on one battles. I'll keep defending the wall against Mick Cronin until he's gone or he proves me wrong. You can disagree all you like but I hold UC hoops to a higher standard than Mick has delivered.

Haven't you been bashing Mick for a lot of things the last couple months? Why the reversal now? This season ending disaster should make you even madder.

I agree about winning the conference. Can you imagine the posts on here if Mick regularly won the conference only to lose in the first or second round year after year? L-T, westside, and their minions would stomp down the road with torches and and pitchforks. No chance they would use that accomplishment as a vote of confidence for Cronin.

I haven't mentioned conference championships once because that's just part of the package. I want consistent top 15 rankings, I want 1-4 seeds in the NCAA's, I want big home games played to sell out crowds on a regular basis, I want national recognition, I want conference championships, I want all americans, and I want to realistically compete for Final 4's.

I want all of those things to be the norm and not the exception. That's what I want Mick to deliver and until he does I won't be satisfied. You can make all the arguments you want as to why we can't do that but we've done it before and the right coach can do it again.

If you don't want all those things then why the heck even follow the team? We're all glad you do and our fan base needs the support but that's how I look at it. If some of you guys don't like my outlook I have a suggestion for you......DEAL WITH IT.

Couldn't disagree more. Winning the conference should be Goal #1 every season. And I very much think you have it completely backwards with the pitchfork thing.

I'm actually impressed that so many people in here have such a low opinion of our program and still follow it. The disappointing thing is that they don't think it can be better and want to stay with the status quo.

Some people don't know what to think anymore. The past few years have been confusing.

Little perspective here too guys. This isn't a Fire Mick thread, this talk is all because Mick has apparently opened the door for another school to make him an offer. I read enough today from credible sources to believe that talks have at least happened. UNLV's beat writer reported that UNLV's president was at the game on Friday and met with Mick after the game. Don't be mad at me or others for the content of this thread. It's your guys' golden boy who opened up this box.

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. So hopefully Mick happens in Vegas tomorrow and decides to stay.

There are things I would certainly like to see change with Cronin. I would like that to be while at UC. I guess I ultimately think getting a new coach won't solve the issues we have. The problems I see are much bigger, that only the 1% of coaches could fix with UC. I know we won't be getting a coach K or Calapari anytime soon so that's why I don't believe a new coach would magically help us.

You are most certainly entitled to your opinion. I was just shedding mine. It's okay to disagree. Type away my friend.

I gotta say, I don't get the "we're in a gaebage conference so who cares if we win it?" thing. Shouldn't that be even more reason why we should win it? Would you start caring if we win it if we were in the Big 12? Or does the "garbage" part about the AAC have nothing to do with it and people flat out don't want conference championships? I'm very confused about this.

Kiss at least 2 seasons goodbye if that happens. Cumberland won't come within 10 miles of Clifton if Mick leaves, and I could easily see Evans transferring out as well. Maybe even Clark.

Don't let your opinion about what this season could or should have been cloud your judgment. They played well enough to win the last 2 games and if about 9 tenths of a second goes the other way and they win those 2 games, we're having a completely different conversation, are we not? I get frustrated with the coaching sometimes too but that's part and parcel for fans of any program outside of Lexington or Durham. I can only imagine what's being said about Thad Matta and Sean Miller right about now.

I get what you're saying. Of course it's teams goals to win their conference. But college basketball has turned in to all about what you've done in the tournament. Personally, it's all up to the individual to what you deem successful. In the national media's perspective, it's tournament driven.

VCU seemed to do fine this season after losing Shaka Smart. They lost a several guys too.

Please see my earlier post about expectations. If we have to absorb a down year or two to raise the bar I could live with it, not that I agree that we'd have to kiss anything goodbye if Mick left.

Even great programs have down years from time time. Teams are constantly rebuilding. A great coach can overcome all, we need a great coach.

I get the tournament thing. But for those of us who follow our programs year round, the months of building to a conference championship is amazing...I think. I know when we lost to Harvard it was easier to swallow bc we went 15-3 in the league. I know Kansas fans feel the same way, and I see that program as THE standard in college hoops. I also think that's why so many look back so fondly on the Huggins years.

Doogle, this is about way more than this year. This year wasn't even the icing on the cake. The icing was already on the cake. I disagree completely that 2 seasons would be lost, but if so, then so be it. It's often said you have to take a step back to be able to take 3 steps forward. A step back doesn't always happen though. Anyone leaving is just speculation. It doesn't always happen.

So let's stop the bickering about the program and coach. This thread is about whether Mick is taking the UNLV job. So, put your proverbial money where your mouth is. Is Mick taking the job or not? Have some balls and make your prediction. I'll start. No way in hell Mick takes that job. Who's next to give their prediction? We will see who is right and who is wrong very soon.

I don't think he will take it.

I'd give my left nut to look at a bracket in March and write UC into the Final Four with a straight face. I don't see that happening under Mick's regime so I'm hopeful he's leaving.
