Mick a Candidate for UNLV?

So let's stop the bickering about the program and coach. This thread is about whether Mick is taking the UNLV job. So, put your proverbial money where your mouth is. Is Mick taking the job or not? Have some balls and make your prediction. I'll start. No way in hell Mick takes that job. Who's next to give their prediction? We will see who is right and who is wrong very soon.

Right there with you and Waite. No way he leaves. Nor do I want him to.

I get the tournament thing. But for those of us who follow our programs year round, the months of building to a conference championship is amazing...I think. I know when we lost to Harvard it was easier to swallow bc we went 15-3 in the league. I know Kansas fans feel the same way, and I see that program as THE standard in college hoops. I also think that's why so many look back so fondly on the Huggins years.

I'm not saying it's not important but i always found winning the conference tournament and getting a top 3 seed only to lose first round a sign of an ultimate choke job. But thats just my view, i certainly understand other perspectives.

BTW, mick isn't leaving

I think he leaves. I think he is out of excuses here and will go to a new program where he can use rebuilding as a reason for mediocrity for a few years then move on again.

Well we are doing neither right now.

LOL, look at the brass balls on this guy........love your optimism. I said he isn't leaving but I'm usually wrong about everything.

Brass balls is one way of saying it. There are many other ways. LOL. I'll give him this though, he at least is putting his name next to that opinion.

I gotta say. It's been **** hard to keep up with the speed of this thread...loll. Somebody way back said something about if winning some championships would change my attitude of Mick. I rattled off a litany of positives about the Huggs years. If Mick had just a few of those to go along with 6 straight tourneys, he would look much better to me. Again, the lack of good recruiting is killing us. The lack of putting butts in the seats is killing us.

No chance in hell he leaves. Makes ZERO sense. Their last coach made 700,000. Mick makes 2.2 million here. They would have to considerably raise his salary for him to leave his hometown, his alma mater, his dream job, and his family. Not to mention his team next season has a ton of talent. Terrible fit from pillar to post.

He's not going to UNLV. But if he does, a boatload of fans will return to this program on day one.

I don't get the recruiting thing. And apparently either does UNLV cuz according to one of their beat writers thats one of the reasons they are interested in Cronin. I understand we are not getting the blue chip guys, aka 1 and dones, and i'm ok with that. I like seeing guys like kilpatrick who was an unranked 3 star recruit turned all american. There has been some player development here

In 10 years, you pick his one real success story. Remember, SK was here 5 years and was nearing 25 years old when he left and was pretty average until his great senior season. The fact that we often wait 3-4 years before most of his recruits ever pan out, is a huge negative. Clark showed some flashes this year, but is still very inconsistent. Evans came on late and may be an exception. We'll see.

Gone. His comment about the fans and doing his daughter homework shows he's getting heat from somewhere and has had enough.

Don't give up your day job Mr. Comedian. Not man enough to put your money where your mouth is? Is Mick the coach next year? Yes or no? It's not that hard.

Mick is still the coach. We're still focusing on football. When it's time to ask season ticket holders to pony up for the new arena and higher priced tickets, that's when the rubber will hit the road. It won't work if Mick is still the face of the program........unless he pulls an elite 8 out of his bag of tricks next year.

You think a 3 star recruit averaging 10 points his freshman year in a conference like the big east is average? Yikes, tough crowd.
