Mick a Candidate for UNLV?

Under his watch, the football program has taken a step backward and the basketball program has lost it's coach of 10 seasons who has taken them the NCAA Tourney 6 years straight. He better also hope that Cronin doesn't start bringing in top 10 classes every year and competitng for Championships at UNLV. If UC is in the dumpster and UNLV is winning with Cronin, Bohn will be as popular as Zimpher is around Cincinnati.

I'm not about throwing things back in people's faces..........I'm about our program raising the bar. I hope I'm right too, but either way my opinion had nothing to do with this. Whether our next hires fails or succeeds has nothing to do with me so why would I ever throw it back in people's faces??

Their "practice gym" was there when I was in school. I know because I played intramural games on it. All they did was add sound dampening panels to the walls. State of the art alright. Other schools have a separate "arena" in which all of their practice areas, training areas, weight rooms, and practice courts are located. UC has a multipurpose gymnasium that the team can use to practice on when other programs don't have games. The name of that place: 5/3 arena.

Dude...you're really displaying your lack of knowledge of the program. You're referring to the Armory Fieldhouse, which was the old arena and became the practice facility once we moved to Shoemaker. The varsity village project constructed a brand new practice facility buried deep underground. It actually physically sits a couple stories below the Sheakley Lawn. Rather than mislead everyone, you should actually visit our campus and tour all of the beautiful facilities. 5/3 is nowhere near a dump. Cincinnati Gardens is a dump. 5/3 is still a very attractive arena, not constructed very well for fans, but I guarantee you that no recruit would walk in there and think "dump".

No, I'm not. I know all about that shithole. I tore my ankle up in the fieldhouse. The team does not practice on that rubber floor.

I also forgot to say that the Lindner Center, which is totally separate from 5/3, houses state of the art everything....classroom, video and conferencing, medical and rehab facilities, training facilities, coaches offices, player lounges, players study rooms and computer equipment, coaches offices, Bearcat Hall of Fame, and on and on. You are 100% wrong.

If you truly believe the facilities are so great, you are further gone than anyone thought. I've been there. I've seen them. I've also seen the facilities at Ohio State. I've seen the facilities at West Virginia. I've seen the facilities at Louisville. They don't compare. Sorry. Ask anyone involved in basketball and they will agree with me. They will say that UC needs a major facilities upgrade. It starts with 5/3 but it doesn't end there.
 
One more train of thought. Say it comes out that Cronin felt unwanted and under appreciated, as numerous reports suggest. Then we have the 10 year UC history headline of "Beloved coach run out of town, replaced by hometown boy who rebuilds gutted program to 6 consecutive NCAA's only to be driven out"...The destination of UC head coach looks a lot less enticing

Again, you are so completely wrong that you are embarrassing yourself now the more you say. I'm not going to say any more about it. Two or three other people have weighed in on this very thread to back me up, so just go back and see what they have said. Honestly, I'm in disbelief that you're even arguing this point. That whole Lindner Center and Varsity Village complex are top shelf and it's laughable that you don't know anything about it. I've had two kids in the athletic program there within the last 5 years and know it inside and out. You are crazy to argue this.
 
is there another lindner center? cuz i get a webpage for a mental health building on the university of Cincinnati...pretty fitting right now

Show me ONE report that suggests that..........a real actual report. Not some blowhard on twitter making up facts and not some opinion piece from Mo Egger. Show me where it's been reported that Mick has told anyone that he's not happy at UC and feels unwanted and under appreciated.

The last report we got from Mick less than a year ago was that he's the only coach in America who doesn't need an agent.
 
If it is true and he is gone, this will be the second time he stabbed his alma mater in the back. And, some are still defending him. This may drop him below Nancy Zimpher.

For a variety of reasons (some fair some not fair) of which we don't need to relitigate, Mick never seemed to galvanize the fan base. I think he's done an admirable job in a hard situation. Maybe it's best for all if Mick moves on. With the last vestige of the Nancy Vs Huggins war removed, maybe the whole fan base can move on as well and rally behind a new coach. I would prefer young up an comer versus a Tubberville type of hire.

I've never heard Mick say it, but i keep reading similar things in articles regarding the situation. Not saying it's true but it makes this a less desirable destination if it turns out to be a factor. Thats all
 
I won't use facilities as an excuse, but when our arena and locker room arent as nice as Middle TN State, that's a problem any way you slice it. Again not an excuse but it's kinda sad

I'm with you on this one L-T I've been thru all the facilities many of times and they are very very nice.
