Mick Remaining at Cincinnati

I believe Mick's telling the truth because everything he said resonated with me and some similar things that happened in my life, and I felt exactly like he described feeling. Something semi-traumatic happens in your life and it compels you to evaluate everything.

Regardless of my feelings for him as Coach, I applaud the man for looking long and hard within and making decisions that are best for him. Seems like the trip to Vegas reinforced his confidence that he's right where he needs to be.

And lest we not forget, our previous Coach nearly took 2 different jobs while at UC. I think West Virginia thought they had him locked down pretty tightly and he ended up staying. Don't remember anyone branding him a traitor in either circumstance.

I'm not a Huggins fan (anymore at least) but the two situations are so different for many reasons that really don't need to be rehashed.

Either way, he is staying put so now he can focus on recruiting. With Clark, Evan, and Caupain next year that is a very solid base.

I think Mick wanted to clear his head after a really disappointing and puzzling season (he looked like a ghost for the first half of the year). Notice how this has completely overshadowed all that talk...

There is one saving grace Waite. When the officer talked me down off that Carew Tower ledge a few hours ago, he mentioned Washington, Caupain , Clark, Cumberland, etc. and it wasn't making a difference. I couldn't take it no more. But as a last resort, he said. "L-T, don't do it. What about Justin Jennifer?" On that note, I stepped down and gave the officer a hug and decided to move forward with optimism. :D
Hilarious! So which one of u is also a police officer. The officer clearly reads this board.

Not sure if this has been posted but here is the AD of UNLV speaking about Cronin.

Cronin told them even before getting on the plane that he was going to sign the contract with UNLV

that explains all the twitter talk from ESPN talking heads regarding UNLV feeling good about Mick, because they were literally thinking they had mick locked up.

Strange; either Mick got to cincinnati and planned on leaving UC and was talked out of it by his family or ONO/Bohn or he just lead on UNLV with zero intent.

I think he we planning on leaving and UC made some closed door deals with UC that they agreed to not talk about.

UC is a public Univeristy therefore nothing of substance regarding Mick's contract or any promises of upgrades could be kept secret. If UC agreed to hire Sammy a tutor to help her with her math problems in order to free up Mick for more recruiting there would have to be a public record of it.

What possible closed door deal could they have agreed upon that would have any impact on Mick staying? I'm not sure why it's so hard for people to understand that Mick had personal reasons that lead him to UNLV and in he end he decided to stay. It's a perfectly reasonable explanation.

PS - Mo Egger is a pair of clown shoes

Mick didn't do all of this because he didn't want internet posters to complain about his performance this year. There is a whole offseason left to do that.

Im not saying anything regarding his contract. Im just saying that they end up trying to push through the locker room upgrades he already fund raised for.

If he read this board there is no way he would have talked him off the ledge. L-T would have gotten a two handed shove to the back.

The locker rooms will get done when the arena gets renovated. Why on God's green earth would UC pay to upgrade locker rooms right now when they're a year away from gutting the arena and completely redoing it? I mean......c'mon man.

So your really saying Mick Cronin Staged this whole fiasco to just quiet people about a disappointing season??

That seems pretty elaborate.

Im not sure his reasoning but Im also not in the camp that he did this just to help erase our memories of the season.

A lot more teams with a lot more talent and expectation than UC ended up watching the second weekend from home just like Cronin and company did. Last year we over achieved, this year we under achieved yet I believe we have many reasons to be optimistic about the future of the program. Cronin didn't need this whole UNLV thing to keep him from being fired or anything

Where do these statements come from? Is there any reliable link or source that shows he raised funds himself for locker room renovation? Am I the only one that thinks this sounds crazy in of itself? It's amazing how these internet rumors gets legs. Just like Mick is basically a done deal to UNLV.

Amen! Someone, anyone show me some proof that Mick went out and personally fund raised to get new locker rooms right before the school is planning on redoing the entire arena.

In what universe would that possibly make sense?

I read in it an enquirer article during this whole thing.

Any way.

WCPO says that the contract WAS reworked but details not yet disclosed and not to match UNLV offer.

ya i mean come on at this point the anti cronin crowd is grasping at straws

"What people don't understand about Mick Cronin is that Mick Cronin grew up a UNLV fan. Mick Cronin didn't do this for the money. Mick Cronin didn't ask for anything from UC that Mick Cronin doesn't already have. Mick Cronin has been approached about numerous jobs over the years that would have paid Mick Cronin a lot more money than Mick Cronin currently makes coaching Mick Cronin's hometown team. Mick Cronin would like to thank Mick Cronin's fans for continuing to support Mick Cronin and Mick Cronin's basketball team here at the University of Mick Cronin."

If what WCPO reported is the truth then everything Mick said on the radio today (in between referring to himself in the 3rd person a dozen times) was a bold faced lie.

doubt it im sure it has more to do with the arena and recruiting trips and stuff like that where he would be compensated more without it or something like that. everyone saying it wasnt about the money even mike bohn theres no reason to lie about it . i honestly dont see why everyone is so worried about it anyway. if you guys honestly think he did all that to get 100k more a year ur out of your minds it obviously wasnt about his salary. i personally think he did take the unlv job then when he came back here uc wooed him i mean it is what it is hes our coach thats what matters the rest is for the haters to moan about. You guys also got to remember him getting more money for recruiting would also have to be reworked in his contract.
