Not pointless at all. All the bellyaching about the offense and there are actually good teams out there that struggle to score even more than we do. Who knew? I'm convinced scoring 80 in a loss would draw more encouragement than scoring 52 in a win based on some of the continued comments I've read on here.

Extremely pointless. I'm sure Georgetown fans are happy about their 28 point drudging to Pitt last night or their previous loss to Marquette while only scoring 48 points. Georgetown has now played 4 good teams and have only won one of them. I'm sure they are thrilled over is DC. Of course none of this has any relevance to UC.

The great ones wouldnt be.... THEY LOST. Nothing should make Mick happy in a loss. Thats the most ridiculous attitude ive ever heard.
Not as ridiculous as framing an entire argument out of a few lines of a press conference when the majority of it was spent talking about how he was disappointed they didn't score more points.
Mick was not saying he was happy with the loss, he was pointing out the things that they did well during the game. Even when you lose a game there are still some things you did well, just not enough of them.

They lost 3 games by 8 points. The offense is struggling and I get the frustration. It is Mick's job to defend his team when they're down. He has to find things to encourage the team with. The passing, especially in the second half was a positive thing. Typical overeaction. Every team in this league will hit a period of 3-4 games where they don't play well. The SJU loss makes it worse because they didn't come to play. Personally I think Notre Dame just beat them. They also blew out UK and UC is the only team to be within 10 points of them during this win streak. Atkins hit 2 big time shots in the last 5 minutes that were very well guarded and they hit 6 straight 3s, something you rarely see, even on open shots. The past 3 seasons people wrote this team off in January. They'll be fine.

The voice of reason on this board. Thank you, Jeff, for actually taking a measured, reasonable look at the current state of the team. I too think this team will be just fine.
I respect the positive outlook on the team from both of you, but then what is the point of this board?
When things go well, we come on here and praise the coaches and the players. When things go bad we voice our frustration. Is that not the point of message boards?
Nope, Mick is like God, you can only praise him for the good and blame everything else for the bad.

And the other purpose is debate and disagreement. I think you have valid points but my points of January panic, a coach trying to keep his teams mental state up, and Notre Dame being very good right now are valid as well.

No where did I defend Mick Cronin. I simply stated a fact that any coach after losing 3-4 would encourage his team to keep them mentally in a positive state. It's his job to fix this and the 2 seasons prior to this he has.

But Im not sure Ive seen this offense worse. I think the Adam H era even showed a little more. Just a little

This team isn't even fun to watch. They bore me to tears. They have zero offensive ingenuity.
The defense is usually consistent. But when the score is close, and the other team has an offense, and we don't.......you just know we're gonna lose.

This is absolutely the place to voice frustration over a loss. Nothing wrong with that at all. I just think it gets a bit silly when discussing a loss quickly turns into sweeping generalizations about the program. Just as silly as it would be to come on here after the Pitt win and say recruiting is great and we are going to the National Championship game because we had a really good 2nd half.
