If your looking for a basketball factory go root for Kentucky. I'm very pleased with the players Mick is recruiting and most happy with the results. Now Discussion is over!!!

Huggs always called those kids the "Burger King" all-americans. Overlooked players with a chip on their shoulder. I like that Mick has employed that strategy as well.

Answer the question then...How many NCAA championship teams in the last 25 years did not have big time recurits and multiple PRO's on them??? Discussion over

That wasnt the original question that you asked. You brought into question if Mick Cronin was a good recruiter. 5 star recruits and NBA first rounders do not grow on trees and are the hardest recruits to obtain. You act as if this is a video game and just because we want the best kids in the country we should be able to get them. UC has major obstacles to overcome when it comes to recruiting. Facilities, budget, attendance, competition. You have to be able to recruit at the highest level in whatever quadrant your program falls. This is the way you elevate your program to keep getting higher and higher recruits. When Cronin started out he was building from nothing. So he had to get the best diamond in roughs he could find. Nobody wanted guys like dion dixon and jaquon parker. In their senior seasons one went to the sweet 16 and the other is on the 11th best ranked team in the country. Same with SK. He recruited some the best "3 star" players in the country. Now his team is looked as a national power again. Now he can begin recruiting at a higher level. The ability to recruit and the players you get dont always equal each other. There are many other factors in play. The point is he has recruited at the highest level under Huggins and Pitino. He has recruited a team that is 11th in the country when everybody always thought UC would be the little fish in the Big East pond. As the program grows so does the talent level of recruits you are able to obtain. Mick has proven without a shadow of a doubt that he is nothing short of an excellent recruiter and an elite coach.

Huh? Im not trying to make you "fear" me. Just telling you how some people get into defensive mode on here and never admit they are wrong. I was helping you cope with the insults people are throwing.
I'm not trying to make you fear me or hate me or get upset t me. I'm just saying you are wrong on this issue. Mick can recruit and that has been evident the last 3 years. i dont see why youre upset
I can't think of any National Champions, but I can think of runner-ups. Butler.
UC isn't UK, Duke, UNC, Kansas, UConn, etc. where the coach can waive his hand and NBA players masquerading as 17 to 19 year olds have to spend a year in college so they pick those programs. UC isn't at that level.
I'm not sure I want to be at the level of UK. I'm embarrassed by Calipari. You just know he's cheating his ass off to get those kids, and hopefully it does him in some day.
UC is doing it the right way. And as said in the other thread..........rankings are stupid once you get past the first 20 to 30 kids.

Also Mick Cronin's "3 star" group of players last year beat more ranked teams than any other program in the country. Many of them were filled with 5 star players and NBA players. Syracuse went to the Elite 8 and Louisville went to the final 4. Beat them both. I'd say the players we have are producing at an elite level.

Titles are embarrassing??? I could care less if we do it the "right" way as long as we win. Huggs had plenty of shady characters that were big time recruits but they were intimidating. I'm just asking for a few every couple years. CATS

In the regular season yes..I actually do love the argument but the tourny is what matters.

Your confusing speculation with realization. How about this should have never been a thread in the first place. Mick is improving the program yearly and we are fortunate to have him.

Your original premise was so far off base it was laughable. You changed the argument after many knowledgeable people (Not you BearcatMick) destroyed your original argument that "Mick Cronin is not a good enough recruiter." Of course you need good players to win championships. The point myself as well as others have made is that "good" players dont need a ranking next to their name to be considered good. Mick Cronin knows this better than anyone. Does anybody on here really think this team cant go to the Final 4 or win the National Championship this year? They have leadership, talent, experience, they defend, rebound, and have one the best back courts in the country. All with these so called misfit toys as players. Someone recruiting them must have seen something that the people who rank the top 100 didnt. Great recruiter. Better coach. Now the discussion is over....

His recruiting has regressed in the eyes of RIVALS. He has won more games every single year at UC (last year tied). So he is improving every year with worse players?

I honestly don't think im wrong. I would admit to it. How has the recruiting not regressed? The last three classes have not been impressive. Mick's my guy i'm just stating the obvious.
