I'm a little surprised I haven't seen any talk about the departure of Mike Thomas. Any body have an opinion on what it means for UC?

I think the university will bring in somebody who is a fundraiser/PR kind of guy. They will certainly want the new person to continue the academic success that has been established in the athletic programs.

Mick to be on ESPNU's College Coaches Roundtable

Mick will appear on Monday August 15th, at 5:00 pm, alongside Tom Izzo , Michigan State; Matt Painter, Purdue; Bill Carmody, Northwestern; Ed Cooley, Providence; Tom Herrion, Marshall

I think, as a lot of people believe, it is a positive for both parties. It was time for Thomas to move on and hopefully they are able to bring in someone with extensive ability to raise $$$$$$$$$$$.

I also think it was a good time for Mike Thomas to move on. I have always been skeptical of his fund raising abilities with the local corporate companies and feel that he fell short in this area. He did a great job hiring coaches while here and left the athletics department in better shape than when he found it. It is time to get someone in there as AD who can sell the direction of the department and the programs to big money companies in Cincinnati. It's not going to be easy, but that is what the administration should be looking for in it's next AD.

I am glad to see him go, to be honest. The way things were ushered in post Huggins was shameful and now I think people can put the whole mess behind them. I hope Cronin takes this opportunity to put his stamp on the program and promote it. I haven't seen it over the summer but it is never too late. IMO of course as always.

Get the MAC/CUSA mentally out of here, and lets get a charismatic guy to get the locals enthusiastic about bearcat athletics.

ushered in post Huggins? please explain...

I really do not think I need to explain myself seeing how those topics were covered 1000 times the past 3 years. This is a new era and I am starting fresh along with my beloved Bearcats. I will not be baited this season. Go Cats!!!!!!!!!!
