Cincinnati's Deshaun Morman will transfer, per the school. Three years of eligibility remaining.

Well, there it is. I'll be interested to see where he goes. A-10 school maybe? I wonder if this means we feel good about our chances of adding 2 players. I know KJ Walton isn't the #1 answer in terms of what we need immediately, he could still be a guy deserving of a chance to get big minutes after Cobb, Troy and KJ are gone.

I'd say probably D2

A shame it didn't work out with him. Add 2013 to another class that bit the dust. Hopefully Caupain and KJ can carry it on their shoulders but that is now three players gone from the class before their junior year.

Yeah, five players in the past two seasons, and Gaines the year before, that for one reason or another have left the program. I like to give Mick the benefit of the doubt on things, but that is a disturbing pattern. He is recruiting them and giving them scholarships and leaving scholarships on the table every year as well.

Happens at a lot of schools these days. Everybody wants PT. Louisville, Syracuse among other top schools losing multiple players.

Mick probably telling the truth to this kids letting them know that they're not that good yet and trying to get them to work harder. Some kids can't take criticism and not having enough playing time makes it worse.

It takes a lot of time and resources to recruit a player, get him on campus and then give a scholarship. If Mick is finding out that they can't cut it a year later, he needs to be more selective and figure that out quicker.

While you can get a good feel for a kid through the recruiting process, you never know how any of them will handle life as a college athlete until you get them on campus. Morman is a good kid, but he didn't handle adversity well, and put himself in front of the team on multiple occasions. In the process he lost the trust of those running the show, and the end result was his exit. Maybe Mick should have asked his high school and AAU coaches to bench him for long stretches to see how he would handle it...

I agree, recruiting 16-18 year olds you never know how they will handle things and what they will do. I guarantee Mick wishes now that he did more background probing before turning away Terrell for Morman.

Remember Terrell requested his release from OK State before attending because he didn't want to leave "home". Hindsight can't be 20/20 on that one...

A trend among college basketball, nothing out of the ordinary just at UC.

Sure there are a lot of transfers, but UC is experiencing more than most and it's concerning when Mick says himself that the program relies heavily on veteran upperclassmen.

We're losing diamond in rough type players, nothing to major. At the sane time I'll always give my last scholarships to local guys unless I'm getting a lance type player. Every player see us play and automatically believe their missing piece. I still say it was grades over attitude. Like I keep saying Mick has a horrible attitude himself.

Yea but the vast majority of kids UC is getting are diamond in the rough type players. At some point you have to keep these kids around and develop them. All in all it points to lackluster recruiting.

Weren't you heavily opposed to KJ, or was that someone else? I'm not sure what difference it makes if they are local. Lance was a top 10 recruit, which UC rarely ever gets. I don't think you'd like to see a team full of local Cincinnati kids.
