Move to ACC?

You need to run to ESPN to get an invite to the ACC.

The ACC, in the long run, will go out of existence.

The surviving Big 4 will be SEC, Big 10, Big 12, Pac 12 all with at least 16 members.

Don't the ACC have the automatic tie-in to the Orange Bowl? Maybe it's not official yet?

The ACC does have an automatic tie in to the Orange Bowl but it "only" pays $55 million a year (the ACC's share is $27.5 million) while the Rose Bowl and Champions Bowl pay $80 million a year. FSU, Clemson, etc. are not happy about the revenue disparity between the ACC and the other 4 power conferences.

The ACC is not going to be one of the 4 mega conferences. That ship has sailed.

The ACC is going to become the old Big East with membership of UC, UofL, Syracuse, UConn, South Florida, Boston College, Pitt, Miami. The SEC, Big 10, and Big 12 will eventually pick off the other members.

Adam Zagoria is now reporting that the ACC is in talks with UConn, USF, Louisville, and Cincinnati. My guess is that UConn will take the place of Maryland and that the Big East won't sweat too much over the loss of Rutgers (despite the loss in market share - and NY/NJ is a huge market, for sure - a new TV deal is imminent), given that several schools are already lined up to join in the coming years. Nevertheless, I think FSU wants out of the ACC, too (SEC is probable), as they also (with Maryland) voted against raising the exit fee. That said, I don't think this is the last we'll hear of it.

I don't think Louisville or Cincinnati would jump ship without assuring that both schools are invited to the same conference. Any thoughts?

I was in Southeast Ky. for a funeral the past 2 days and it was on a radio station down there that should Maryland leave the ACC that Louisville and UC were likely to be invited. I blew it off but maybe it's credible.

try not to lose sleep over this fellass...

whatever happens happens. Dont get people reading into every little article about the possibilities because none of them are probably true.

Sit back and ride the storm out.

Barring conspiracy theories that 4 mega 16 team conferences will break off from the NCAA and start their own NCAA tournament, I am not concerned for the basketball team. Yes, I like to play the big boys in the Big East and a broken conference takes a way from that. But the goal is to make the tournament, and if we go back to the days where we lose 4-7 games during the regular season and get a high seed in the tournament, I can live with that. And I don't believe the conspiracy theory about the 64 teams breaking away and having their own tournament. First, if that happened, there would be no point of a regular season. Second, the backlash would be enormous from fans around the country.

I am just concerned for our football program which has come so far since joining the Big East. Hopefully, a safe landing in either the ACC or Big 12 will happen eventually.

Remember the rule of thumb. Whatever Ralph says is incorrect and completely opposite of what is true. For example:

When Ralph said "wv will never leave the big east"

Or

"Missouri's ad has stated they won't leave the big12"

Or

"The big12 does not want to expand"

Or

"Louisville will not leave the big east"

Or

"Wv will not make more money in the big12 than the be"

Just flip it for the truth

Actually I'm okay with this. I don't think we could realistically compete in the B1G or Big 12 and certainly not in the SEC. It is what it is, we don't have the money or fan support of many of the top programs. If we can get into the ACC, I'd be very pleased because I think we can compete in that league. However, it does irk me that IU, NW, UK does get a shot to play in the "big boy" conferences and we don't. UC is way above those programs as far as football goes. But like I said, it is what it is. Ain't gonna change anytime soon.

LOL! You have been incorrect on everything so far but keep on trying, the law of averages to get one right eventually are in your favor.

The ACC may not last. From an athletic and fiscal, but maybe not academic standpoint, the Big 12 would be best.

ACC = Big East 2.0

It would save everyone a whole lot of time and trouble if Syracuse, Boston College, Miami, Pitt, and ND simply came back to the Big East.

Absolutely not! You are even incorrect on your statement about me being incorrect.

Your two recent incorrects do not make a correct, Ralph

If we don't get in, it will not be for lack of effort. I think it's good we have new hungry blood here between Whit and Santa. Good luck guys. Get in there.

I really hope for the ACC, I mean it will be a good football conference but honestly I am a college basketball fan first and wow, the new ACC would be insane. We think the BE has been brutal the level of competition will be even higher. But what is even better, we will be able to compete since we have already been in the best basketball conference for awhile now. I just don't see a reason why the ACC would not want us.
