Move to ACC?

Incorrect. The sec is already in the Florida market with the gators. The sec wants new markets in Virginia tech and nc state

Fsu will go to the big12

Wrong again! FSU will stay in the ACC until they get an invite to the SEC. FSU has zero interest in joining the Big 12. If the SEC does not invite FSU, FSU will be content to stay in the ACC.

I wonder...what role does Cincinnati media coverge have in all of this? I'm not saying it's intentional but if you consider...

Cincinnati Enquirer - we have one freaking newspaper and a guy that does not cover the Bearcats until after everyone else does. Koch couldn't do his job any less. Other newspapers have all sorts of articles about their colleges in the offseason. Koch does the bare minimum. He doesn't touch recruiting. He doesn't go into detail about players on the team. He's worthless. The lady covering XU does a better job. She's less than 1/2 his age and XU is a small shitty university. I found this message board because Koch provides like no information on the Bearcats.

Radio - Lance McAlister talks about the Reds 90% of the year. I can't tell you how many times I've driven home during the Reds offseason, and he's still yammering about the freaking Reds. What about our football and basketball team? What about the football team whenit was 6-0? Or the basketball team now? He barely addresses it. Mo is pretty good but he's still about 90%Reds and Bengals. There are freaking shows about Louisville and UK on each week too...how does that happen in our market?

Local TV - We can't even get every one of our games on television. Sure most of them are on Fox Sports Ohio but a handful of times, you need a special channel or to watch in on ESPN3 (or BearcatTV for the exhbitions).

I don't think any of the above individually is catastrophic but together, I think the result is that our sports do not get promoted. When you take this on top of the lack of large corporate sponsorships, it's no wonder that we can't fill the stands. We've been winning the past few years in both FB and BB and still...empty.

Separate point...last year, I had to work late and couldn't go to the UC vs. Miami game. I tried to sell my tickets...then I tried to give them away. I couldn't even do that. How pathetic is that?

This could all likely be inconherent babble. I just know I'm really pissed at the way things have shaken out. I think there are a ton of factors...a smaller city being split by 2 college basketball teams, close competition (OSU, UL, UK, IU, even ND and Michigan)...but I think the media is a contributing factor too. Our sports are not promoted like they are in other college towns. Maybe Whit is focusing on this...I think they could work on creating a little bit more buzz through the local media outlets...and while he's at it, how about better corporate sponsorships (P&G, GE Aviation, Duke...something).

So lets say now that UL is the last team to join, things stay idle in the realignment...wouldn't it just be a smarter idea to just shut down the BE all together and let the teams find a place? The Big East is done and no longer should be a conference, its crazy to think us and UCONN are the only big schools still here.

Huh?

The Big East remains the number 6 conference. The new BCS gives an automatic spot to the highest ranked non Power 5 Conference team. Most years this is going to be a Big East team. The new Big East TV deal is going to pay each all sports member millions more $$$$. All of the remaining Big East schools will earn much more in the Big East than they could possibly earn in any other non Power 5 Conference. The Big East is going to collect about $60 million in exit fees from WVU, Syracuse, Pitt, and U of L. Who is going to leave and not collect their share of the $60 million? The Big East has Madison Square Garden under contract until 2026 for the BE basketball tourney.

The Big East is under no circumstances finished.

"The ACC also considered UConn and Cincinnati for membership. However, sources told ESPN the league wanted Louisville only because there is a sense among league presidents that the ACC can add more schools at a later date if the conference loses any other schools."

We are the poor step child and we will go when we are told. They don't want us, but if one of their schools leave they have no choice to take us. It is a said day when we have to politic our way in a conference. We are like the fat kid picked last for kickball. lol

I think that sums it up pretty well. We'll eventually get into one of the power conferences. We just need to wait for the "cool kids" to get picked first.

You have been horrifically wrong wrong wrong on everything conference realignment related. Don't make me state your quotes again

This sucks. On the other hand, if you were being realistic, you knew this may happen. The question is, is conference realignment over?
If FSU and Clemson bolt for the SEC or if the PAC 12 expands then we have a good chance. Need to keep pushing for a bid some place.

You are the one who is always incorrect. You stated Louisville to the Big 12, now that was a good one. You stated the Big 12 was going to expand, another good one to laugh at as they remain at 10 members.

I'm not trying to offend anyone when I say this but people are so obsessed with who is on teams these days and so into what kid is doing this or that, that it's creepy. Like, Pedophile creepy. Let student athletes be student athletes. You rob them of any normalcy when you start asking them about this game or that, or "what did you think when..." or "how did you ____ during the summer" Let's leave those for the coach. The kids are just kids.
I caught an interview with Sean Kilpatrick at Bearcatlair once, the guy who was interviewing him, he needs to get a life. It's kind of depressing and you can tell he(kilpatrick) was a bit weirded out that this middle aged white dude, was sitting there asking him questions, using slang familiar around the team(with regard to nicknames) and the whole feeling around it was just pure awkwardness.

The information age has become so ridiculously exploitive, you turn on espnU and they have all these goofy ass analysts who's life consists of nothing but studying what a bunch of 18-20 somethings do with their day. Shit is just sad. Then there's that "Unite" show, do those people realize how cheesey they are? How fake their show is? Do those execs not realize, the only reason people watch the "mothership", is because folks are betting on this stuff?

I don't know... maybe it's just me, but there's enough coverage out there.

I agree that coverage has gotten ridiculous, but not for UC. For Notre, UK, Duke, North Carolina, Ohio State, etc., yes, it has gotten out of control. Hicks was just wondering why we have no coverage of UC to the ACC. It's not like we are asking him to stalk recruits and report on them 24/7. There has been tons of rumors on realignment and Bill Koch never even mentioned it until today. He spits out general knowledge that even people who only follow a little bit already know. How about a few updates in the summer, or a little more recruiting info, nothing huge.

Hahaha I know exactly was interview you are talking about and totally agree. I also agree with the other point you say but I will say Bill Koch is turrible and it would be nice if we got a better reporter. I agree with you saying there is enough media coverage, the only media I really enjoy following, regarding interviews is what the university does on gobearcats.com. I wish they did more inside videos but what they do is a nice job. The main problem I have as far as local media is UC is so disconnected with the city and the marketing department sucks. But this is nothing new and blows my mind with all the young talent graduating from UC the university hasn't hired some young professionals to really connect the locals and the school.

The big 12 will expand and add fsu/Clemson for a ccg because their bowl game with the sec requires it. The big12 will deny expanding until they are sure fsu and Clemson are on board officially

Just like when you said Louisville will never leave the Big East because "No one wants them", you will be proven incorrect again

It shouldn't be too hard to get those two on board if they want to play football at the highest level. All you need to know about the ACC is that a 10-1 FSU team wasn't even in the championship discussion last week.

Wrong again! There is no requirement that the Big 12 have a CCG. FSU has zilch interest in the Big 12, last thing a Florida school wants to do is join a Texas conference.

If FSU goes anywhere it is the SEC-they have a natural rivalry with Florida and have money/good fb tradition.

They already have a rivalry with Florida and this is already a nationally televised game. The SEC already has the Florida market for their network. What is the benefit of further splitting the pie if it will not bring in any more money. The SEC is looking for new markets. In the end having a good rivalry does nothing to the bottom line.
