I agree as well, but at the same time a team with no interior threat is easier to defend. Yancy at least had size and a nice touch down low, defenses had to respect him when he was in (even if he was hovering around the free throw line for so long). Hopefully Cheik can provide a little presence down low on offense to keep the defenses honest as they say. Yancy never materialized into the dominating big man we grew accustomed to here in the Huggins era, hopefully Mick finds one soon.
I don't think Yancy lacked dominance. I think, toward the beginning of last season, he was plenty dominant. We became a perimeter oriented team after the fight with Xavier though.
That meant the offense no longer ran through Yancy. A dominant big man, cannot single handedly win against high competition.
That's entirely unrealistic. The guards through the better part of the non-conf, were crap last year.
They couldn't shoot, the offense had no rhythm and they lost to way less talented teams because of it.
In this current system, I don't think there can be a dominant big. The big we get, will be used for defense, rebounding and put backs.
Don't expect to see a dominant big if we keep like this.
Now, if you get a tweener, who could hit inside and out, then you may have a dominant forward. If Justin Jackson ever got a jump shot, he could be that kind of guy. Kenyon Martin, was the epitome of that kind of player.
I wouldn't expect to see a dominant center in this offense, EVER.
