yet you have fans who say JJ couldn't score in post. Getting to free throw line and just become more of a student of game were key difference.
Off topic but didn't Lawrence break his foot mid season?
I would agree if SK shot more OPEN jump shots but in all actuality he improved his handles too allowed him to put ball on floor. Going back to Goodwill games coaches talked about him improving his shot selection and handles. No, it was the low post scoring. Cronin has said so countless times.
Mick also said on many occasion that his shot selection needed to improve. The fact he shot 58 more FT's his senior year then his JR year tells me he was taking the ball to the hoop more instead of settling for jumpers. Actually it was probably a combination of both better post play and shot selection. He took the same amount of 3's his senior year that he took his JR. year. 267. Making 11 more his senior year. His big improvement was going to the hoop. He made a180 Ft'sNo, it was the low post scoring. Cronin has said so countless times.

I'm cool with next year team also. I wouldn't mind getting a pass 1st PG and a rim protector.I like next years team as well. Even if we pocket the two remaining schooly's. Excited for Morman to be added to mix. Also feel Lawrence, TC and KJ will take huge steps. All have loads of potential. Will also have some depth at the post. We were severely hampered when JJ or Rubles got in foul trouble last year. Next year we won't be so reliant on one player to carry the offensive burden. My big concern for next year is defensively. JJ was DPOY for a reason. Him and Rubles erased a lot of breakdowns and their versitility allowed them to guard multiple postions. Defensively we have big holes to fill.

U know what I'm talking bout, whatever name of tournament was.??The last time the goodwill games were held was 2001, SK was 11.

I really wish replacing good defense was as simple as saying will just score more. I understand your thought but it really doesn't work that way. Defense is the cornerstone of all good teams. Your shot may take a night off but defense is about effort. If a teams attitude is we don't have to focus on playing good D because we're scoring more we are in trouble.Mick will have this team playing good defense. Whatever step back they take without the presence of JJ & Rubles might be made up for on the offensive end with more offensive options and balanced scoring.

Defense carried this team last year. I'm hopeful that we can play just as good defensively and add a some points to our offensive production.
I got ya. Hope your right.I don't disagree with you. My point about defense, even taking a step back, still has to be viewed through context of a typical Mick Cronin defense. They don't have the seasoned players they once had so experiencing will be lacking. Even an average UC defense is a lot better than what a lot of teams throw out there. Effort will always be a constant or they won't play. It will take these guys time to adjust to D-1 UC defense. The composition of the team seems to have, or the potential to have, more offensive options
I'm looking for Shaq to develop into a sure fire NBA prospectSince we'll have more size and we already have good length, I'm hoping if nothing else that we snatch pretty much every defensive rebound (stronger rebounding from Shaq especially). I also think our defense will hinge a lot on the offense. If we can get it rolling and set up the press, we could be a smothering defensive team. It could allow us to go smaller and quicker with TC, Morman, and KJ.
if your hoping for that the first key for you is to see if he gained about 25lbs. Most of the guys in the NBA can sky. Prospects don't go games without a rebound. Go play as bad defensively. He has a long way to go.I'm looking for Shaq to develop into a sure fire NBA prospect

He needs to do more then score. He needs to board and play defense as well. At times he disappeared on the defensive end and on the glass. One game against Louisville he didn't get one rebound. This will be a very interesting year for him. The last two seasons he has been able to hide behide SK and others and chip in here and there. Next year five points a game will not cut it, there's no one to hide behind. He must be a leader for his team.
