I never see him developing a steady shot. He shoots like a worse version of shaq Thomas. Really flat, that is hard to fix. I hope everyone improves a lot but it is rare to see multiple drastic improvements over a summer.

He is tall enough, long enough, and can jump high enough where a flatter shot won't kill him from 15 and in. Maxiell made a career out of shooting liners. The 3 point shot is obviously different. That's why I'm saying scrap the 16-20 foot shots. He just needs to master the muscle memory of the shot right at the line. That's something Jenifer has done a good job of. And it's something Moore needs to be a legit gunner. Obviously we are talking way fewer attempts for Scott. But I'd like to at least see him try. 33%+ isn't ridiculous to hope for.

Cane Broome had career highs in FG% and 3PT% yet his scoring went from 23.1 his SO year to 7.9 2 years later. Obviously there is a transition from Sacred Heart to UC. But the per/40 scoring went from 24.7 to 15.3. That's bs. He was hitting shots at a rate higher than ever before. He's an electric scorer. That's why he was brought in. Yet he wasn't ultimately allowed to play the way he should be allowed to play.

This is also on Coach Cronin 100%. He KNEW we needed Broome. But he spent the whole entire season d*cking him around. That shit needs to stop.

Look at the Malik Newman situation at KU. VERY similar. Highly thought of transfer coming in who is expected to help immediately. Struggles a tad out of the gate getting adjusted. Gets taken out of the starting lineup. Has his role diminished a bit. But this is where Bill Self and Mick Cronin part ways. Cronin never let off of it and suffocated the kid. Bill Self got to a point with Newman where he knew he just needed him playing well. And it was late enough in the season that he just had to live with any mistakes bc at the end of the day he is one of the best players. Newman responded. He has been freaking killing it. He's got put back into the starting lineup when it was time to put their foot on the gas. We did no such thing with Broome. Most of us screamed about it all year. The 2 game losing streak was the chance to show that we were going to shake things up and dare to go out a different way. That makes our coach too uncomfortable though. He has his comfort zone. And he's going nowhere. He's staying right there in it. He will budge for nothing or no one. And he takes everyone down with him. It must change. He can't lie to himself and everyone else anymore. If he wants to play fast and shift towards offense, shooting, scoring...ok. Then do it. Stop talking about it all the time then being a chicken sh*t when push comes to shove. And if he doesn't mean a word of it. Then just embrace the rockfight. Admit that what you prefer. And operate as such. But don't expect the fans to like it. At all.

Lol. We won the league, won the conference tourney and had a 2 seed. It was a wildly successful season.

Cane was his first championship at UC. Cane won more games at UC then he did at SHU combined.

We played bad in 5 games all damn year. And, I dunno if you noticed what happened in the Nevada game, but cane was not good against those bigger players. Cane is a good player but let’s not pretend the mismanagement of cane is why we lost to Nevada.

Cane’s last 3 games of year consisted of 2 assists and 6 TO’s. Cane was 2-12 from 3 in elimination tourney games. He was 1-6 from 2 in the NCAA tourney.

He played his worst games when we needed him the most and I don’t blame him for it, but to pretend this level and this competition isn’t a huge step up is just ridiculous.

I give zero blame to Cronin for the Nevada loss. When our guys stop rebounding and making shots, what is Cronin going to do to fix it? Cumberland’s bond head foul is all on him. And Evans just stopped attacking.

Cane’s usage rate will go up next year but I never want it to be as high as it was at scared heart because that’s not a winning formula

More and more I read your stuff more and more we see you as a Cronin guy. Do you think that maybe Cronin’s antics had anything to do with how Cane played all year long including the last 3 games. No one on the team played with more heat on them by Cronin than Cane. He played not to make a mistake and it showed big time in the Nevada game. You see the kid being yelled at in that game to stop shooting by his own coach. When does that happen to a player. Cronin deserves most of the blame but not all.

I should have said a sound more like Cronin can do no wrong guy. But Cronin made some wrong coaching moves. But hey let’s hope Cronin learn to let his guys play free of fear they will be subbed out for a mistake.

Cronin hounds all of his players, cane was not an exception. Look what he did to Cumberland when he fouled out. Good thing Cumberland is a mute and rarely makes a facial expression cuz I thought we were gonna see fireworks. I think blaming Cane's struggles purely on Cronin "being mean" is a massive cop out.

No Cane should be stronger mentally than he was. But all of those guys played very tight down the stretch. And Cronin being mean isn’t the problem but not knowing if your coach believes in you and won’t sub you for mistake, I bet it’s hard to get in a rhythm. So no cop out. Look at how badly Kentucky played early in the season and those kids made a ton of mistakes but Cal stuck them and look at them now, playing their best ball.

I agree with most of that. I've said before I hate Mick's tendency to yank someone after any and every mistake...they actually start to run toward the bench and I'm sure it doesn't foster a loose environment. They all looked shook and they had no one on the sidelines that had anything to offer unfortunately.

Ok guys.

Cronin is the reason Jacob Evans was garbage from 3 for the last month, Cronin is the reason why cane choked in elimination tourney games, Cronin is the reason Jarron Cumberland made a dumb foul after making another dumb foul.

But Cronin is not the reason we won 31 games. Won the conference championship, won the conference tourney, and beat WSU on their senior night. Got it.

Lol we lost 5 ******* games. 5.

It’s hilarious.

The only thing I blame Cronin for is not being able to bring high level scorers to our team. SK is the only one we’ve ever had.

That’s the real problem. We don’t have any killers on this team. Nevada has 3 of them.

Evans had a bum finger, it's Cronins job to get him to drive to the rim where he met no resistance all game.

Cronin had cane coming off the bench behind an inferior player all season, hurting his confidence, rhythm and development.

Cronin kept Cumberland in with 4 fouls and a big lead.

Postseason success is what matters in sports and mick sucks there, period.

Is it possible that we have had more than one? Yet for some reason they never develop that killer instinct in thins system?

Uhhh who else is a killer over the Cronin era?

Evans, and Gary would be happy not taking a shot all game. Jarron has the instinct but settles for jumpers too much.

I mean that’s a deep reach to try and blame Cronin for the taking the killer instinct from his players.

I mean, Jarron Cumberland has the ultimate green light

Is it?

Obviously a huge part of coaching/management is the mental side. It would be hard to argue Coach has good evidence of doing that. Fact, most evidence shows quite the opposite.

lol. So cane’s confidence was only hurt in his bad games. In his good games it was a fluke then ?

The games where he scored 18 and 5 off the bench, and the fact that he played that role for 33 games means he should have been well adjusted. And if you can’t adapt on a team and buy into your role then it says more about the player then the cosch.

You guys are all trying to blame this epic collapse on Cronin. And I think blaming any single person on something like this is just stupid. I think cane and Jake and jarron are all great players, but it was a collective effort in this meltdown.

I mean I didn’t watch the last play but didn’t it culminate in a Cane Broome TO and he had the ball in his hands for the last shot?

Sk would have made that play, no one else is a killer

It’s hilarious how many cosch coaches we have in CBB.

I read forums From teams with elite head coaches who lost early. They are think their cosches suck too. From Tom izzo, to Chris Mack, they all think their cosch sucks and they lost the game.

This is why the "cincinnati fans are the worst" thing is stupid. Go to any teams message board or social media after they lose, it's the exact same. People just venting

I can't blame coach for us missing shots in a single game. But the problem is we don't have those guys who can make a shot off the dribble or who can get off a quick 3 and knock one down and that IS on him. We have guys who can make open shots and make a drive or two here and there.

There are plenty of players out there (on mid major teams) who can figure out a way to get a 3 off even with a defender right on them. Or to dribble and pull up and knock down a shot on the move. Our guys need to see some space between them and the defender if they are going to attempt it.

The "killer" is the guy who doesn't need the space to get the job done...he can create the space because the offensive guy has the advantage of knowing when he is going to take the shot. Nevada made those shots coming down the stretch. It's hard to rely on being open all the time in March...even though we had plenty of good looks...it was going to bite us eventually. You have to have someone who can create.

Well, we actually do have one of them IMO. Cane. But he just wasn't allowed to operate that way. The regular season we have to get a guy like that comfortable doing those things so he can perform in March. You can say what you like but Cane was "dumbed down" this year IMO. He has a killer instinct in him and some skills to match. Kyle is not afraid but he's not a guy that can create his own shot so it's different.

I think there is a difference between built up frustration over a couple of decades of early exits in March and the average blue blood fan venting after a single tourney. They can get over it quicker. Our frustrations have grown over a LONG time and this year has compounded the issue. It is the single most frustrating thing about UC basketball IMO.

Can we over achieve in March just once? I don't mean beating a higher seed in a single game. I am talking about making a run because our coach steps up his game on the biggest stage. We have been doing the opposite.
