Potential Incoming Players

We have reached out to guard Matt Halvorsen, grad transfer from Western Carolina and he just recently followed the coaching staff on Twitter for what that’s worth

Worst rated defensive player with over 168 minutes on his team. Assist rate worse than Diarra. Doesn't rebound well. Only shot 25 2's on the season. 6'1" and not athletic.

Basically does nothing but shoot threes. This guy would do well in the horizon league. But he does not have the athleticism or defensive skills to play in the American. Besides that he's going to have trouble hitting threes when guarded by a 6'5" athlete.

Hard pass. I'd honestly prefer Rob Banks.

Also not sure he would want to transfer for his last year and come off the bench

Also trying to recruit Adama Bal... 6’6 guard out of Paris France... would be an incoming freshman... the coaching staff seems to be recruiting him hard but the feelings don’t seem to be mutual in terms of interest from Bal unfortunately. I think he we would be a nice addition on the wing.... Holds other offers from Marquette , Georgia and Colorado

I’d pass also. Not sure this guy offers. I guess a body, I’m not sure

I’ve liked this guy for a while. Good size, good upside. I’m not sure how realistic he is. I thought some bigger schools were in on him.

I added , Marquette , Georgia and Colorado.... they would hold priority I assume over us.... I think Marquette could be out due to the coach recruiting him was fired

If brannen can’t make a splash or two, I think it’s safe to say he’ll be gone next year. When the buyout is lower. The program needs a good team or a promising future. Right now there is neither. Pressure is on

Honestly, those aren’t too big. I’d say a decent shot if it’s just them.

I agree and based on the transfers we are in the running for and Bryson Spell, he’s not really making a splash... which I will not knock spell because I don’t know much about him and he hasn’t event played a minute for us yet. If we can land Toney from Pitt I think that will be a splash we need

The lower level transfers we brought in just haven’t fit other than Jaevon, I give brannen a pass that first year for the fact he just had to fill the roster late .... but McNeil, Sorolla, Rap, Vogt... DDJ and Javeon are the only one who were hits, now his entire freshman class is gone except Lahkin who is unknow

Lets not act like we are above any transfer at the moment, at this point what right do we have to be picky, we have 4 guys on scholarship and a coach who is perceived as not being a personable coach and lying on the recruiting trail. I honestly do not believe a lot of these high major kids are wanting to play for Brannen, I may be wrong but if you had other major offers would you seriously consider UC at the moment? With how things have played out JB has dug himself a very deep grave and he is trying to claw out. Remember how much he talked up Rap? We all saw how that turned out. We can offer playing time and that's what a lot of these mid major kids want, they want a chance to play at a bigger school.

Mostly agree here Cincyalum.
However, Cronin was prone to such hyperbole
As well. Touted Adam H as best thing since
Sliced bread & Trevor Moore was best 3 pt
Shooter he’d ever coached. And we know how
Those 2 turned out lol.
Actually I think the Mick just liked to hear
himself talk , as well as the idea that others were
listening.

Every coach does that. Every single one. They aren’t going to say they are trash.

I’m like you bro, I 100% agree Coach hasn’t missed on HS kid yet. Mick had bust right out gate. Then again how would Adam H and Moore looked this year in AAC? So basically jury still out.

I don't really understand how we can afford to buy him out next year if we can't afford to buy him out this year. Yeah, I know it goes down. But it's still over 3 million bucks.

I just don't get how 4.5 million is completely unreasonable, like we can't even consider it but 3.2 is no problem.

If this is the case, then I think the University and Athletic Dept is being incredibly short-sided. We just put 100 million dollars into our arena, we're still looking to move into the Power 5 but a difference of 1.2 million dolllars means we're stuck with a coach for a lame-duck year?

Eric Van Der Heijden Has been released from his letter of intent from Louisville .... We were recruiting him really hard before he committed to Louisville.... something to keep an eye on

Also Mike Saunders posted on Instagram “the door isn’t closed just yet 😉”.... no idea what he means but interpret that as you may

As a fire Brannen supporter, I'm hoping it's a sign. Hard to believe Mikey would come back (or be allowed to come back) to Brannen after the leaked twitter DM's where he essentially says he is leaving because of Brannen.

Let's please keep this thread focused on potential incoming players. Put buyout/firing discussion in the Season Updates or Coaching Carousel thread.
