Chuck seems a little out of touch this preseason. I guess he didn't get the memo on the "no huddle" offense. He was critical of Moore and Evans in the exhibition games for taking shots, and last night he was asking Mick if we'd see Ellis and DeBerry together for 30 minutes in a game.

The way Mick was talking early on I was thinking we might see close to 20 minutes out of DeBerry. After watching how the offense works in exhibition I'm thinking he will top out at 15 in "normal situations". I would say about 10 minutes backing up Ellis and 5 minutes on the floor with Ellis.

My honest thought is that Cronin is trying to get Moore to buy in...to get excited. Because if he does not...he may get too discouraged and not be an asset and possibly transfer. Why not try to get him to buy in first...maybe his attitude changes and you end up with a big with nice offensive skills and the drive to get better work his butt off.

I hope this is the case. We want the best out of Moore and maybe Cronin is taking a new tact to get there.

I agree. This seems more realistic to me. DeBerry can still have a big role, but I'm not sure how consistent his minutes will be. Btw it was great seeing him get to the line and make his FT. Clark needs to get to the FT level of our other bigs (and the rest of the team really).

If offense stays on point I see him getting 8-12min game.

lmao what was Mick answer?

He shot it down at 30, then asked about 20 and was a little more open. Id say it all depends on matchups, whos tired, and foul trouble. Was also asked if clark would play the 3 this year. shot that one down too. so the ellis deberry and clark lineup is never going to be a thing

until it's time man up and play them big boys

I dont even know what that is supposed to mean. but how does playing all 3 at the same time help? clark is at his best in the post, so you put him out on the wing and then what? Teams would be thanking mick and would play a zone D with 3 guys down low and we would never score

maybe, just maybe if he continues to work on his mid range game and continues to get quicker he can play 5-10 minutes a game his senior year, but as of right now his best spot is on the block. If he were to be getting anything at the 3 this year he would have played atleast a minute during the 2 team scrimmages and 2 exhibition games, but he didnt, so maybe next year

I agree...of course.

However, in the scenario of 3 bigs on the court at the same time it would probably be Moore or Scott (not Clark) at this point and I don't ever expect to see that either. Especially in a movement focused offense

Seems like an endurance issue, he is too slow.

Except when he is in the open floor handling the ball on the break, he looks very capable and does not look slow. Then he gets the ball in the half court offense and looks slow. Part of the issue is in his own head I think.

Clark is not only the best 4 on our team he is the best 4 in our conference, to move him from that position would be beyond stupid. He plays way bigger than he is and he is an extremely extremely smart player, I want 30 mpg out of Clark at the 4.

Yes...he is not quick. He can get it moving if he gets a head start. Long strides are not usually noted for quickness but they CAN be fast.

Do you consider Marcus Kennedy at SMU a 4 or 5?

Shaq Goodwin is a definitely a more talented player. It is hard to tell with him being coached by Pastner. He might not still be in college if he was somewhere else (including here).
