regressing or a slump?

I agree with you WAITE HOYT 2! Cronin said the samething in the post game. Rivera-Snith and SK is about the same built, SK taller. The GT guy knows how to get his shot off on anybody and SK just doesnt attack. I wonder if Mick yanking people out the game after every mistake makes this team gun shy?

The lack of a big man is just another excuse for a lack of an offense. The fact is that this offense does not even attempt to use the big men. The big men are just positioned on the opposite block. Sure Mbodj and DNy lack post skills but so do a lot of other teams that have just as good of an offense as UC's. If Mbodj and DNy ever attempt to post up the guards don't even bother to throw it in to them. It wasn't much different with Yancy. Our guards either suck at throwing an entry pass or just don't want to.

DNy (60%) and Mbodj (50%) lead the team in fg %. Sure a lot are dunks but the ball should still be thrown in to them but the guards refuse.

Name that last time where UC had a good offense under Cronin? You can't. His offenses have always sucked. Eventually you have to stop blaming the players and look up to the top.

Andrew Bynum sucked when he came "green" to the Lakers. Kareem was tasked with making him a viable "Big". It took a couple of years, but Kareem succeeded. So, we need a Kareem to coach our bigs as to how to play offense. Too late to teach them this year, but at least they should know the fundamentals. At least Yancy knew what to do and was able to execute.

These guys came in raw to a place where defense is the focus for 99% of the time. Mick still doesn't think offense is an issue. And a few games ago I heard him say that the only thing he cares about with Mbodj is his defense.....Is there any surprise our bigs aren't developing any offensive skill sets?

You can't shoot 50ft 3s from the low post!!! Isn't that Cronin's game plan?

Mick has done a good job with this group. Considering we are as one dimensional as we are offensively. Really would have liked to see the season contiue without the injury to Cash but if you follow the game at all you got to know he is hurting. Without his consistent scoring we are challenged everynight.

Their offense wasn't good before Cash got injured.

Exactly they have NO POST PLAYERS!!!! They are guard oriented. Take away the numbers Cash was putting up and it is tougher to win.

They had a post player last year. Was their offense good then? You tell me when the last time the offense was good under Cronin.

First, yes, 123rd in the country is bad. Second, they average 61.8 ppg in the Big East. Early cupcakes inflate the average. Third, you going to take my bet?

So now we're back to saying that we just don't have the players to be good? I thought Mick was doing a great job of recruiting? How can it be that he doesn't need to do a better job of recruiting yet we don't have good enough players to win? That doesn't make any sense.

I believe we do have good players and Mick is doing a pretty good job but currently doesn't have what it takes to push this program to the next level. His offense is miserable but his defense is fantastic. You can't win with defense alone when your offense is this bad. If we could find a way to average 5 more points a game we'd be looking at a 3 or 4 loss team right now. Listening to Mick talk after games he never mentions offense as a problem. It's time he wakes up and admits to himself that offense is important and we need to be better at it. Our ability to play D keeps us in any game, if we could get a clue on offense we'd be a force. Mick needs to go out and get an assistant that can specialize in offense.

As for the remainder of the season, I think we surprise somewhere along the line (maybe an upset against L'Ville) and finish up 3-2. The last few years we've been a good tourney team and I expect us to play well with this group in the Big East tourney. We'll get in the NCAA's and be a 6, 7 or 8 seed and see what happens.

we are good jsut not great. There are very few great teams in college this year. There is a upset everynight in the BE and Big Ten. How did OSU look against Wisconsin. Louisville lost 3 straight after being No. 1. Mick's reecruiting class this year is his best. He isn't a guy at this time that can bring in One and doners. he is getting there but up to this point recruiting has been tough. he is gaining a name for himself nationally. that will help going forward. Also his budget is one of the smallest in the league.

Villanova just walked into Connecticut and beat uconn by 9. Uc can beat uconn twice

Nd lost at providence by 17, barely beat DePaul at home in ot, lost to Syracuse and gtown by almost 20, and lost at home to uconn. They are very beatable

Ul is overrated . They also lost to nova by 9 and nd

Usf blows

I do not gamble but id wager heavily on uc if I did in each of those games

Gambling requires something material. There is nothing material with this bet. I'll assume we are on. I sincerely hope you win the bet.

Their offense wasn't good before Cash got injured.

No, but they scored enough points to win. Only two games below 60 before the injury. Since the injury they have failed to reach 60 in 4 of the last 7 games and have yet to score 70 with Cash back in the lineup. We went from having one of the best PG in the BE to a guy that can't make a shot now. Losing 9 PPG is huge for this team.

First 5 BE games:
17.8 PPG
29-59 FG (49%)
11-30 3-pt (37%)

7 BE games post injury:
8.8 PPG
19-81 FG (23%)
10-49 3-pt (20%)
