regressing or a slump?

No, but they scored enough points to win. Only two games below 60 before the injury. Since the injury they have failed to reach 60 in 4 of the last 7 games and have yet to score 70 with Cash back in the lineup. We went from having one of the best PG in the BE to a guy that can't make a shot now. Losing 9 PPG is huge for this team.

First 5 BE games:
17.8 PPG
29-59 FG (49%)
11-30 3-pt (37%)

7 BE games post injury:
8.8 PPG
19-81 FG (23%)
10-49 3-pt (20%)

They did? Prior to his injury they were 2-2 in the Big East. They scored 52 against SJU and 60 against ND.

3-2 including their best game of the season at Pitt. The only Top 10 team to ever win a game at the Pete. Yes, with a healthy Cash this team can score enough to consistently win.

Exactly. We were playing very good basketball as was Cash when the injury occurred. Now with 5 games in league play we need to change the offense. That is comical. We better hope Cash recovers over the next few weeks and finds his offense. If not it will be a early exit from both the league and NCAA tourney. The shame of it is Cash was playing his best basketball.

So, it's not Mick's offense that is the problem it is the fact that he couldn't get a decent pg to commit while Cash was here?

2-2 prior to the injury. The injury happened against DePaul. Prior to DePaul they were 2-2. Yes, the best win was against Pitt, then was followed by a loss at home against SJU and ND in which they didn't score over 60 points. The game prior to Pitt was another loss at home in which they scored 54 points.....Obviously they had offensive issues prior to his injury.

See above. That is average basketball. The offense sucked prior to his injury. Again, prior to the injury they had 3 straight home losses. That's very good basketball? No wonder where the confusion lies, our expectations differ greatly.

done debating with you. if you can't see that something is wrong with Cash your blind. Yes we lost 3 home games. We also won road games. Which is tougher???

Cash still played in the DePaul game and he was the biggest reason for the win. That's why I went with 3-2. No one is arguing they didn't have offensive problems prior to the injury. They also beat three top 50 RPI teams and cracked the top 10 with a healthy Cash. Now with a depleted Cash this is more of a bubble team. I actually think the committee should take note of the play since Cash's injury. Take one of the best players on any team and cut his point production nearly in half and see what happens, especially a defensive-minded team.

True.

But also it seems other teams have gotten better while the 'Cats have stayed the same or gotten worse.

Still time to turn it around and a healthy Cash would go a long way. But that is not likely to happen. So we need Parker and SK to play with extremely aggressive with the basketball and we have to get to the foul line instead of jacking up 3's. Even though this team shoot pretty poorly from the line it is way better than they shoot from the field.

Very fair statement. I can't argue with that at all.

My point was never that nothing is wrong with Cash. I understand he is still fighting through an injury and is struggling because of it. My point was that is not the reason the offense is struggling. Hence the reason why I pointed out that the offense wasn't good in those games prior to his injury. If UC has any hope at advancing (assuming they get there) in the tourny they need a healthy Cash.

Who were those top 50 RPI teams? I'm guessing Oregon, ISU, and Pitt? I mostly liked the way they looked against Oregon and ISU. They really got after them on defense (they still do) and they flew up and down the court on offense. Unfortunately that was back in November and this team is a shell of its former self. They need to get back to playing the style they played against Oregon and ISU. Obviously with a healthy Cash they will be better at it but I don't think even if Cash isn't healthy that they are better in a slow paced style.

As for the selection committee, I hope that helps but it could also hurt them if they take it into consideration and if it's still a factor at the end of the season. If they think the reason UC has been playing bad is because Cash has been hurt and if he is still hurt on selection sunday they may think the bad (or not as good) UC team is the one that will be playing in the tournament.

Those are the three wins, correct. They absolutely looked their best in Vegas. I've broken down the stats from those games multiple times on this board. They not only took the ball away, but they looked to score off of every deflection. Lately we either aren't forcing turnovers or when we do get them we aren't always looking to run. Very frustrating.

I actually meant that as a negative in terms of the committee looking at the play since Cash's injury. If we limp into Selection Sunday with just home wins over UConn and USF and Cash hasn't improved then I think it would be fair to drop us at least a seed line. This is a very average team right now with Cash struggling.

Agreed.
