The Finalists for the Nasmith Award have been named. Doug McDermott, Nick Johnson, Jabari Parker and Russ Smith.

No Napier or Kilpatrick....

Sean Kilpatrick was named a Second Team All-American by the NABC.

McDermott, Parker and Nick Johnson all have 9 points (3 first team selections).

Napier and Russ Smith have 8 points (2 first team and 1 second team).

Kilpatrick has 7 points (1 first team and 2 second team).

It looks like there is a good chance Kilpatrick will be name a Consensus Second Team All-American (among the top 10 point getters).

Not really surprised. I honestly think he played his way out of his First Team All-American status during the last few weeks. He was on a tremendous tear and that pretty much ended when the season ended.

With the early exit from the tourney and the way Napier has played over the last few weeks, it wouldn't surprise me if Kilpatrick were second team

If Kilpatrick were to be named 1st team by the AP and Napier named 2nd team, then they would be tied. Johnson, Parker and McDermott are essentially locks for the 1st team so the last 2 slots are going to come down to Napier, Smith and Kilpatrick. I having a feeling those two are going to get the nod. Remember they simply just take the 5 highest point totals for 1st team and the second 5 for 2nd team.

Does include ties though, so essentially all 3 could make first team. prob won't happen but there's a shot

I think it's pretty possible. If SK and one more (say Napier) get 1st team on the AP ballot, and the other gets 2nd team (say Smith), that would tie SK and Smith for that 5th spot, which would make 6 1st-team AAs and 4 2nd-team AAs.

SK played his way out of the 1st team with his post season play. Watching Napier against Nova in the tourney solidified his spot I believe. Smith is still playing as well which will only benefit him.

SK was just named a 1st-team AA by the AP. Unfortunately, so was Russ Smith and Shabazz. Looks like he'll be the top guy on the 2nd AA team.

McDermott and Parker were the only two to get voted first-team on every ballot.

They don't factor in post-season play.

First Consensus AA since Steve Logan. Both should have their numbers honored in some way at the Shoe. Maybe in the Ring of Honor?

It's tough to say. I agree these two stand out among all-time greats for Bearcats but retiring numbers has to be an exclusive club. We've had something like 25 or 26 AA. His name will be up there with them. SK had a great career. Maybe they could have a banner with top five scorers or something that would honor them. I know there will probably be some fans sporting some number 23's for a few years to come, myself included.
