Just curious what grade you would give each player thus far in the season and maybe a quick reason why.

Rashad - B, solid at everything, great at nothing.

Davis - D, brought little to nothing to the table at all.

Dixon - B, Decent contributor but needs to take the next step.

Gates - B, Tempting to give him a C, because no one is more frustrating to watch, but he brings something to this team, no one else can. Has ALOT of work to do. Needs to develop a mental toughness, and low post moves.

Biggie - D, simply not a D1 BE player.

Parker - A, In limited time has been successful, molded for BE play. Excited about his future.

Lance - C, probably a little harsh, but lance has not lived up to the hype. The jumper/three has not been there all year. For being a prolific scorer in hs, he should not be shooting 19% from deep. Also high turnovers.

Thomas - C, needs to start making some shots, surprisingly decent rebounded.

Toyloy - C, is what he is. Toughness.

Deonta - B, hit or miss throughout the whole season. Being a senior, expectations are greater. This is the time of the season he needs to start dominating.

Darnell - B, maybe a bit high on the grade, but he has shot the ball better than expected IMO. Bball IQ is not good.

Cash - B, struggled early on, but shows signs. Has played well as of late.

Mick - C, have supported mick, but question his overall coaching ability. Poor Offense, poor motivator. Heck of a recruiter... Hope he works out. NCAA or out IMO.

I agree with most of your grades with the exception of these:

Rashad - B, solid at everything, great at nothing.
I give Rashad an A, because while your commentary about his skill level is correct, he never forces it. He always plays within himself, and that's what this team needs him to do.

Davis - D, brought little to nothing to the table at all.
Larry hasn't brought as much as expected in terms of offense, but his defense is good. I give him a C.

Lance - C, probably a little harsh, but lance has not lived up to the hype. The jumper/three has not been there all year. For being a prolific scorer in hs, he should not be shooting 19% from deep. Also high turnovers.
Lance gets an A. Is he living up to the hype? Absolutely not. But he is the best athlete on this team and adds another dimension to the offense. Whether he meets the expectations set for him is a moot point...without him we wouldn't be near as good.

Thomas - C, needs to start making some shots, surprisingly decent rebounded.
I would give Ibrahima a B because I think his shot is starting to fall, and will only improve with more playing time. He'll get there...let's remember he hadn't played in a game in a year; and he had never played in the BE.

Mick - C, have supported mick, but question his overall coaching ability. Poor Offense, poor motivator. Heck of a recruiter... Hope he works out. NCAA or out IMO.
Coach gets a B from me. There are only two things about your statement on him that I disagree with. He is a mediocre motivator IMO, not a poor one. Seems like splitting hairs, but that's the difference between a B and a C. The other disagreement I have is that I don't think he needs to make the NCAA to keep his job. Again, IMO, he hasn't shown that he can't do it. He's only shown that he can't do it as fast as we would like.

I, like many others, had high expectations for this year. I agree with most of what livinglegand said, however I may be a bit harsher on some players, just based on expectations.

The people I disagree with:

I would give Gates a B-, mostly because I feel he can be so much better. It seems to me that he rarely gives it his all to get into good position down low. In the Maui tournament the broadcasters were saying how he could be a dominant force in the Big East if he would try to get himself open down low more often. At first they were saying how the gaurds need to get him the ball when he is open, which led to them saying he just doesn't seem to throw his body around down low much in order to get position.

I would give Lance a C+ or B-, mostly for the reasons you gave. He simply has to improve his jump shot.

I would give Deonta a B- at this point in the season. This is his senior season, he has to take the leadership role. He is what gave UC fans hope these past few years, and it seems like he hasn't been playing as well. He has had spurts don't get me wrong, but I thought this would be an excellent season with him back in his position.

Mick would also get a C. His team clearly had the talent at the beginning of the year, but it seems like those teams he beat in Maui have progressed, while UC has stayed the same. I haven't seen consistant improvement with this team. Some games things click, other games UC just looks worse than the Maui. That is what is so dissapointing.

Lets not forget Lance is a freshman. He is also leading the team in scoring. I have been impressed with how he gets others involved. He is not at all the selfish player he was made out to be.

My Grades:

Rashad - B

He is solid all around but not great.

Larry - D

For being one of our sharp shooters he has been so disappointing.

Biggie - D+

Can alter and block shots. That is it.

Deonta - B

Pleased with his production

Toyloy - C

No offense but works hard and rebounds the ball

Cash - C

Not consistent but seems to be getting it together. He needs to keep playing and shooting well.

Parker - B+

Good at almost all things

Gates - B

So much talent. Happy with his rebounding and defense. Has no shot though and no go to move.

Thomas - C

Athletic for a big but needs more production.

Dion - B

Great FT shooter and great motor.

Lance - B+

Freshman leading the team in points and I consider him our second best passer.

Needs to improve shooting from the outside but he has been very good.
