I am not a Rubles hater, I see the potential, but he has too many flaws. Shaq is undersized, but has the skills already at his disposal. Rubles can't shoot and can only dribble with his right. At the beginning of the year, this worked, because nobody had a good scouting report in him. People have adjusted and all he can do now is rebound. Shaq needs the experience, also, as I envision him being the future centerpiece of this team. Have Shaq start, have Rubles be a sub and make him work his arse off on his shot (hopefully, getting a new one) and make him and SK learn how to not stop and kick out when you can clearly keep going in for an easier shot.

shaq will get his time, but it won't be this year.

i do agree shaq is the better offensive player, but not even close to trub on d, rebounding. and passing.

i would like to see more minutes for shaq and often ask myself why he doesn't play more...till i see him on defense.

Totally agree, good assessment.

I agree. Just don't let Rubles put the ball on the floor on offense. Actually he's good to have in the backcourt in case of a full court press as the third man because he can dribble back there.

I agree too, but we need all the offense we can get. More minutes for Shaq, even if his defense is bad. I mean, Rubles makes up for his better defense by making boneheaded turnovers and dumb mistakes. The other 4 can play defense, but we need any time of offense we can get, even if that means giving up a little on d with Shaq in.

many of Rubles TO's are the result of Gaines,Narnsuk and Modj not being able to catch a cold.give him a big with some hands to pass to and he'll be fine. He is also one of the best defenders on team. Shaquille can't board or guard yet. Hence he gets few minutes.

dumb statement if you've seen this team play this year there's no way in the world you would think Rubles should be giving minutes Shaquille Thomas, I agree he takes bad shots and is pretty one-dimensional on offense but his intangibles are a glaring strength, shaq is just not ready to take the floor for more than seven minutes

Rubles has not displayed great intangibles, he is in his first year as a D1 player and he plays like it. Shaq has plenty of offensive skill and we need offense. He is ready to step up and take a few more minutes, especially if Cronin finally realizes we should go 4 guard and press for 40 minutes. People keep bashing his defense, but he is good on offense and gets lots of steals, which would really help us if we actually stick to the press.

As Mick pointed out in the post game interview, he would love press more with Shaquille in the game but Parker and wright can't do it, we would have to play Guyn more and I dont think that would prove to be a better option.

I'm sure Parker and Wright could press for short periods of time. We have good guard depth, so we need to use it-alternate taking guys in and out and go full out press the whole game.

You may be right, but I am of the Bobby Knight thinking if you have to press a team you should already beat them straight up

the same can be said about shaq.

you have to give mins to guys who helps your chances of winning. overall, that player is rubles. shaq giving us production off the bench is huge. i would like to see him get a few more minutes of pt but not a lot more.

we are now at tourney time. don't expect to see any changes in the rotation or more minutes. the bench might even be playing less.

Pressing is a strategy, and we have the athleticism to do it and it is the best way to overcome anemic offense. Worked well for Mizzou last year...

By pressing more not only do we have to rotate in lesser players but we also take away the strength of this team and that's our half-court defense. With that being said I would like to see it more.

Our d is still solid, but it hasn't been as good this year. We keep having to foul a lot. Why not foul a lot and press and get some easy buckets in transition, which will, in turn, create more open offense looks because teams will be back in their heels more and more 3s will fall. In our current system, we foul a lot, play good d, but get pretty much no offense out if it...,

i do not agree with the "he cant guard yet" comment...Shaq applies a lot of pressure and creates a lot of issues with his length...i do not understand why Mick will not give Shaq more than a couple of minutes a game...in my opinion, Mick may be regretting this next year...Shaq's ceiling is very high...i still want to see Cash, Parker, SK, Shaq/Sanders, and Rubles as the 5 starters

I am not in the camp that Shaq should start over TRub, but I would like to see Thomas play more. When he plays offensively aggressive, he gives you a guy that can add scoring and match up problems. He can get in the lane and when he gets some lift on his shot, he can score.

Rubles can completely piss me off. He drives past a guy with a clear lane to the basket, stops then tries to throw a timid pass back out for a turnover. He takes ill advised shots and settles for jumpers when he should live close to the basket. However, he can guard all 5 positions, rebounds really well, and pass the ball fairly well. His issues are not physical mistakes, they are mental, he plays unsure of himself too much, but he does play hard. Personally I believe he has offensive potential, if he'd use his tools properly and with confidence. Rubles should live at the rim. Athletically and physically he'd be a very good offensive rebounder if he didn't spend so much time on the perimeter. He can take other 4's off the dribble and needs to go hard to the basket once he gets by his defender and finish. Even his foul shooting is mental. I believe he shot 72% from the foul line his last juco season. I'm guessing Titus will be much better next season and think a year of experience will be a huge benefit to this young man. I'm not saying he'll be all league so chill out. But I do think you'll see a more consistent player who makes an impact offensively.

Very excited to see Jackson, Rubles, Thomas, SK and Guyn all in the line up next season for stretches. That is an athletic, long, line up defensively but hopefully we still have a little noise to make this year. Wouldn't mind a run to at least to the semi-final of the BET to bump our seeding and an aggressive smart Rubles would be huge in making that happen. Just play young man and stop worrying about making a mistake. Let it all hang out there are no more next games.

shaq and rubles don't play the same position. I am all for shaq playing more, but no way he is big or strong enough to play the 4. rubles is our leading rebounder. the
4's are Jackson and rubles. shaq plays 3. the name of this thread should be shaq over sanders....
