No ones saying to slow it down on purpose I saying every good team from here on out will make us grind it out and if jenifer keeps playing like he is against good teams he will have more turnovers....
In tight games the starters play 30 min so there will be a short rotation...

If you haven't noticed, most of the top programs don't slow anything down and grind anything out. They play just like we do, which is fast. They try to outscore teams. If you haven't noticed, the teams who play slow and defensively don't make it out of the 1st or 2nd round in March. That's if they make the tourney at all. There's a reason why Mick is shaking things up. The old style didn't get us much. I look forward to those teams who try to grind us out. We'll eat them up.

Good teams will make us play slow

Lol, again, the good teams don't play that style of ball. We don't want to hang with the little boys anymore. We want to hang with the big boys. Stop being little-minded. This is a new era of Bearcat basketball!

Mediocre to bad teams will "try" to make us play slow.

There is really only one way to reliably slow another team down and that is by milking the clock on every single one of your OWN possessions like we did much of last year. The shot clock change has changed that slightly.

You can try to press...but a broken press is going to have the opposite effect of slowing you down. You can try to cut off outlet passes and you can try to get back on D faster.

However, if we are determined to run at every opportunity and get in an offensive flow asap on the other side and get the first open look...it will be tough to slow us down much. I can see an effective team maybe limiting our possessions by 10%.

I just have to do this, don't want anybody reading the BS you make up and think it's true.

Of the teams that made the sweet 16 last year 10 had a AdjT of 150th or lower, 6 220 or lower.

4 elite 8 teams had an AdjT of 223 or slower.

Final 4 had 3 teams with AdjT of 245 or slower.

Sweet 16 teams with tempo in the top 100? 4, of those only 1 got to the elite 8 and 0 to the final 4.

Where did those Top 100 teams based on tempo rank defensively?

Isn't there some stat like UConn is the only non-Top 30 offense to win it all in about 10 years?

Thought that was Louisville.

Edit: Not Louisville. They were surprisingly extremely efficient in 2013. Top 5 in adjO and adjD. Uconn was 39 in 2014 in adjO, according to kenpom. In 2011, they were top 20

I think we all agree that efficiency is the goal. And for our particular team, the best chance of that imo comes from a pace and space style. We should strive for that in every game.

2012 Louisville was the exception amongst Final 4 teams with an adjusted offense of 116. They compensated for it with the #1 defense by nearly 1.5 points per possession better than the #2 team.

Correct I just don't leave that will be possible every game

It will be possible in every game just not on every possession. Every single opportunity we have to push and get the offense flowing right away...we can do that. There is no defense in the country that will beat us down the court every time or stop every outlet pass or press us effectively 100% of the time. Every other time we control how fast we want to go. Last year we walked it up the court even after outlet passes sometimes. This year that's obviously not going to happen.

Yes completely agree. Some teams can limit our fast break points. But that doesn't mean we won't still hustle the ball up the court.
