Jackson and Rubles both with double double's, and SK has 19. This is what will happen when UC doesn't get much from anyone else. The key during the winning streak was contributions from everyone.

ya but when the seniors are on it opens it up for everyone to contribute not to mention when your having a bad game nothing going right you need your vets to step up and win a game

9,864 the attendance tonight for the #Bearcats & Owls.

Another solid crowd tonight. I have said all along my goal is for the program to average 10k for the "lesser" games and 12k+ for the marquee home games.

Yup, winning does that. The crowds should grow larger as the season progresses, as our schedule is very backloaded as far as big name teams.

This team is going to have to figure out the zone at some point. Not to down Mick, but I don't think I recall any of his teams being able to execute against the zone.

I thought we played like garbage on offense, but it was good to see Rubles step up and show us why he earned that co-captain title. That spin move and floater by Shaq was sick. Flashes of brilliance like that are why I will never give up on him, and I have seen some more consistency from him lately.

Seriously though, Temple knows they can beat us with the zone and they should have Cummings back when we play them in Philly. 23 3-point attempts is way too many.

What about the game against cuse 2 years ago when we beat them in the big east tourney?

IMO not having Lawrence really hurts our offense against a zone. He's the only guy we have that shoots the midrange jumper with any confidence. When you don't have a big that can flash the middle and turn and knockdown a foul line jumper, you will often struggle, and it magnifies when you can't hit perimeter shots.

Not saying Lawrence is automatic or anything but he at least makes the wings collapse on him or makes the big extend to him, which opens up the area around the rim for a dump off.

We have some good, albeit streaky, shooters so I'm not too worried about our zone offense. Not to mention we rebound the hell out of our misses with the defense often scrambling.

It's all about making shots. When you make shots, people say your offense is great. When you miss those same exact shots, people say your offense is terrible and you need to stop shooting threes. This isn't directed at anyone in particular, just fans in general. It's often frustrating to see so many missed perimeter shots from good players, but you have to be patient and realize the next 3 or 4 could go in (like tonight).

I can recall that 7 or 8 of our first field goals against Syracuse were threes, and although we moved the ball well, a lot of them could be considered 'bad' shots. I remember Cash and Dixon shooting some from the NBA line as MSG.

Not too many positives from this game except SK came alive and bailed us out. Rubles played much better in the 2nd half compared to whatever he doing in the 1st half lol. JJ brought it too.

This was a game where our Seniors did everything and everyone else didn't bring much. I guess you will have that so I want harp on it really. I hope we get more help from Shaq, Caupain, Johnson and Sanders on Saturday. Great crowd for such a late game. I am really tired this morning but it was worth it!

We wouldve beaten anyone shooting like we did in the Cuse game. I remember Cash just shooting everything out of the gate and the announcers were stunned.

I hate to say this but we would get some help from sanders, shaq, troy if we shared the ball, yesterday seemed like a game where everyone just wanted to shoot, and if we going to keep winning we need everyone to play their roles, rubles rebound and lay up GG I really do not know what role but please stop shooting 3's be a point guard and do that, please cats lets not get caught up on our record and start doing things that we need not to do, stay with the things that got us here. let's go cats!

Another good win for the Cats last night, they continue to take care of business. The first 7 minutes and the last 7 minutes were good and everything in between was downright awful. Bottom line is the team came away with an 11 point victory and a W is all that matters in a game like that.

That being said, Mick needs to figure out a strategy against the 2-3 zone. Temple was running a basic 2-3 last night and our guys had no clue how to penetrate it.

There are still some things about Mick's in game coaching that really irritate me. He's quick to yank a guy like KJ or Troy off the floor if he feels like they make a defensive mistake yet he'll let Guyn stay in the game after taking poor shot after poor shot. I think Mick needed to make last night's game about offense, blow those guys out of the water with our talent, but instead he seemed to be more focused on the defense (as always). We saw Mick's game plan hurt us last night and against Houston, two games we had control of and should have put our foot on their throat but never did. Hopefully that doesn't lead to us ending up with bad loss before the season is over.

If we're playing a team that goes into a 2-3 zone (or any zone for that matter) there is no reason why Shaq or Guyn should ever be on the floor except for short spells to rest guys. I don't care if you have to go small but we are best against the zone when TC, KJ and JJ are on the floor together. Troy and KJ are the only two guys on the team who will pass into the zone and move towards the hoop without the ball. JJ needs to be out there to get the feeds from those guys and it's nice to have SK out there as well because all that inside movement also leads to some nice inside-out wide open 3 point looks for SK.

I really wish that instead of looking at the defense is certain situations Mick would consider the offense a little more. In games like the one we had last night if you're sacrificing offense to play better defense you're making it a lot tougher on yourself to win. Just my opinion but I sometimes feel like Mick's stubbornness gets the best of him.

UC held Temple below 60 points and on a bad offensive night that is why you win. Mick also said the team played horrible but also rightly said, "you are going to play your best every night. I don't care who you ou have nights like last night and to get a win is what matters.

Defense never takes a night off. Coaches at every level will tell you that. Plus there are a lot of varibles in substitution patterns. Foul trouble, amount of players available, players strenght and weaknesses just to name a few.

Guys know how to pentrate it. The problem is when you have two of yor more important players that are on the floor in Rubles and JJ your going to have a issue because the way to attack it is by bringing one of them to the foul line. The problem is neither can draw the D off the wings or baseline because they can't hit the shot from there. They did do a good job of attacking with the dribble and making good quick passes to each other for lay ups on occasion but eventually the D will shut that off and your wings got to knock down a shot or two. It also doesn't help when you limited by only having two post players and one is having foul issues. Actually I'm surprised more teams haven't zoned us. As far as MC's in game coaching irritating you we are 16-2 and undefeated in the league. You may want to consider that he knows the game and his personell pretty well. Not trying to say you shouldn't have a opinion but he has got good results thus far in spite of him doing it his way. i guess what I'm trying to say is i'm glad he is doing it his way.

Fran Dunphy on Cincinnati’s defense:
“They are really good. They are really good. We couldn’t run a lot of things that we would have liked to run just because they take you out of it. They are so aggressive. We had seven of our shots get blocked. Jackson is just a beast in there. He is a really good basketball player. He plays so hard. Not only did he block six shots, but he probably changed another half a dozen. He is tough to battle in there. I think their overall defense is very good.”

Best lineup yesterday:Caupain, SK, Shaq, Sanders, and JJ. Sanders does a nice job at the 4, and I think Rubles should be a 5. Sanders is a tough player, he can handle that spot. I realize you don't wanna do that all game since Sanders is undersized as far as 4s go, but if we need offense, that is our best lineup.
