Everyone's pissed and I get that. Take a deep breath. We've had "cross road" moments basically every year under Mick. The first tournament team lost to St. Johns at home, the Sweet 16 team had the Xavier debacle, SK's senior year we had another Xavier debacle, last year we had the Tulane home loss. The track record for bouncing back has been very good. Think about that before you jump off the cliff. The offense has been excellent (#29 in KenPom), the defense will come around...it almost has to at this point. I'll take a strong finish to the season versus a strong start. All hope is not lost...yet.

Amen! I saw fixable problems. Coach has to get them to buy in now. I would hand the start to the 5 hardest players in practice for the next few games until the guys we need out there get tired of riding pine. We have a capable team but they need to want it worse than all other teams.

Good point! A lot of hard work put in the off season to not try hard, box out and be focused on every play. We can't lose the toughness battle AND the mental battle. Playing tough is our culture...if we have to win one of those.

What exactly has that toughness gotten us? We're left watching more talented and less tough teams play in the sweet 16, elite 8, Final 4 and the championship game. All we have is the ability to talk about our toughness. Whoopie! If we recruit some talent and bring toughness to that talent, we might have something. Making average players tough doesn't give us much.

Every good team knows how to dig deep and get stops bc they're too f*cking competitive to settle for anything less. That attitude just isn't there with this team right now. Not sure where it will come from...but that fortitude, combined with talent, gets you over the hump.

And you'd lose again because you'd be playing KJ and Thomas and Quadri Moore. It's pretty clear that the best 5 players on our team are Caupain, Cobb, Evans, Clark and Ellis. That rotation should play 25 minutes a game together on the floor. Everyone else can sub in as necessary. It's not that freaking complicated, play your best players. We aren't UK, we don't have enough to talent to play platoons. KJ and Shaq are awful and neither should play except to give our guys a blow. Jenifer stinks right now, DeBerry is probably our 6th man and Quadri should have his scholarship revoked.

It's a little too late to recruit for this season. I'm talking about now.

Lol! Dick Vitale just said on national tv, "Best team I've seen so far this season....Xavier!" How much worse can this week get?

Time to send a message. If Cobb, Clark, and Evans don't want to play as hard as they can...you won't teach them anything by not doing anything. I'm not convinced they are the culprits but for the last 25 years you rode pine if you weren't giving effort.

We need attitude and passion on the floor right now.

If our players don't want to play hard it says more about our coach than it does them. Coach sets the tone, he doesn't get out coached for 40 minutes and then come into the post game presser and throw his guys under the bus. Wake up guys!!!! Everyone is ready to hand out the torches and pitchforks on the football site and rightfully so yet people still want to make excuses for Mick. Wake up idiots, Mick is NEVER going to be the answer at UC. When is enough going to be enough??

Let's be fair!

For several months, all I heard about was Tuberville this and Tuberville that. If we are going to be fair, it is time to shift to Mick. Tonight, we were outcoached--allowed Temple to control the tempo the entire game, the team sleeped-walked thru the game, too many TOs, outrebounded etc. Since it is BK season, let's get on somebody else's ass for a change!

Well not in the middle of the season that's for damn sure. Also...our teams have almost always been tough so it would be hard to put that on Cronin. ..although ultimately it will be his job to change that.

SPOILER ALERT!!!! Our team will earn a mid seed in the NCAA tourney (8-12) and play a coin toss game in the first round. If we get lucky and win that game we'll play a good team (1-4) in the second round and lose. In the offseason we'll hear Mick talk about simplifying thing and offense and this and that and we'll come out next year and do the same thing all over again.

It's called UC basketball under Mick, nothing ever changes. The only thing here than can change is the unwavering support that so many fans give to such a mediocre coach.

Let's see what happens. If things go as you say, there will be plenty of time to rant and rave...and I'll probably join you. We are averaging almost 78 ppg this year, so I don't know how you can predict the "same old". We'll see what happens, but for once it feels good to have talent and need defense instead of having defense and needing talent. That's why I put a game like this more on the players than coach.

Again...mid season is not the time. I have my expectations for the season and our coach and I've said as much in earlier posts. The players and coach will have my full support until the season is over and then I will determine what direction to support in the future.

For the record I see the most desire to win in Troy Caupain. He's made a few mistakes at the end the last couple of games but he's THE guy I want on the floor. He's the hardest on himself when he makes mistakes and it's so obvious. If we are going to turn this around its going to start with him galvanizing the team.

Best post so far. Let's get to the root of the problem. If we had called for Mick's head after 3 years, we would have been run out of Dodge. Yet, here we are not even wanting to give Tubbs his full allotment of years. Instead, everyone said we have to give Mick 5-6 years and then look out. Well, we've given him 10 and we have 1 Sweet 16, 1 NBA player (and that's a fluke), Xavier owning the town, 1st/2nd round losses, players who rarely develop, guys who can't shoot, recruiting classes that are never highly ranked, home losses out the wazoo, and when the stars finally align, and the roster and experience level finally show the signs of being special, suddenly we can't play defense, can't rebound, and lack toughness. There's always an excuse with Mick, except that excuse is never the coach. There's only one common thread thru all these years and it's the coach. We're about to spend $87 million more dollars on this program. Prices will go up for sure. People will not pay even higher dollars than today for this product and this coach. 10 years is long enough. All the excuses have been used.

Steve Logan's twitter comment.....

"Embarrassing! Outplayed, out-toughed, low IQ of basketball...
Where is the player development at? Seniors playing like freshmen!"

Well at least you didn't resort to hyperbole. I have been on this board a long time and have heard from BOTH a lot of supporters and detractors. Even a lot of people on the fence who see both sides. If I said every time we lose everyone always calls for Micks head...it would be a complete exaggeration just like what you seem to be suggesting above.

Personally I have made this my rubber meets the road year but I'm going to wait till season's end. I will give the coach and players the chance to suck it up and finish strong and then make a determination as to which direction the program needs to go.
