Yeah that's what I'm saying (I just originally meant no mix of man and zone, just no zone at all).

For this upcoming game against Tulsa specicically, if I were Mick, I'd play man for every second and let players sink or swim. See how bad they really want to compete.

Tulsa scares me because they have 2 guards that can create plays. Shaq Harrison is going to have a field day driving to the basket. Other than Woodard, they don't really shoot the three well. I wonder if Mick decides on a standard 2-3 zone just shaded over towards Woodard. Just try to be solid and defend an area...

I dunno, that might normally make sense vs Tulsa...I just think for our current predicament, Mick is done begging these guys to play hard. And part of his issue yesterday was 15 deflections...so having the guys stand around in a 2-3 doesn't really seem fair if you're going to demand intensity.

It's not the same team as last year. Last year the coach was Larry Davis.

Look I'm not going to sit here and tell you that Mick is doing a good job. I'm not going to tell you that I'm 100% convinced he can move the needle farther then he has already but your comment is BS. The was and is his team. They are underperforming this year and he is coaching them. He bears the responsibility as well as the players.

I'm really sick of this amiba defense we can't close out on 3 point shooters, I'd like to see some man to man just once, he have a height and strength advantage at every position
No doubt. What gives? With sz and strength why didn't we play them straight up. Don't double, just switch if needed.

I get all of this and I agree...but at the same time, it rings as an excuse for poor effort. You can't give up 77 points at home to Temple. There's a reason they were shooting under 40% as a team on the year. They have still yet to score 80 in a game this year, so even if we are bad, Mick teams are still going to be better schooled defensively than most.
Then is it effort???

Things were far from perfect under LD too. We shouldn't do revisionist history here.

They've played some straight man. It's been just as bad as the zone...

For the first time in what seems like a while we don't have that defensive stopper who could guard anyone on the floor. We're missing a Rubles, Parker, Jackson, or Bishop type of player.

If Mick would play his best unit 30 minutes a game this team would be really good. Instead he's trying to play platoons like we're Kentucky. Sorry Mick apologists but he is handcuffing this team. He's doin an awful coaching job this season.
Bingo- play your best guys, mostly man against inferior teams ( I knows Troy may need help, but if Ellis is in vicinity he can clean it up).

I agree jake. I responed to a comment that said the difference in this years team to last was LD was coaching last year.

Right. I don't take that difference into consideration either. Feels like just looking for extra reasons to blame Mick. LD had his share of flaws.
