Using +/- is just as fair as TO or foul rates based on the limited stats from this year.

I disagree with this because we have priors. For upperclassmen, we can look to previous seasons. For freshmen, we know their average TO and foul rates are higher than upperclassmen. To put it simply, TO and foul rates are predictive. Plus/minus is not.
