That's just ignorant. Mack is an awful coach. The new big east blows. Sk was a three star and now he's one of the best players in the country. Mack offers everybody ranked high on espn and promises them unlimited shots and pt. Cronin is better, uc has better players as well this is our city and it always will be. 6 final fours, two national championships speak for its self. X hasn't made a final 4

An awful coach who has been to two sweet 16? If Cronin is so much better, given the fact that he's been a head coach much longer, how many sweet 16 appearances does he have?

Also, sk one of the best players in the country? According to who? NBA experts think two players that Mack recruited are currently better.

It must suck for the city that their team has only won 6 times in the last 17 years.

Mick Cronin took over a program in shambles. Sean Miller left Xavier in excellent shape. Big difference.

You need look no further than the post game interviews after the brawl to see which coach is classier.

Kingston admit that Semaj's stock value is currently dropping like a rock. Good in transition but a poor fg and ft shooter.

UC should win the game this year which will make it 3 of the last 4 and would bring Mick's record in the series to 4 and 4 despite rebuilding the program from salted earth. The trend is changing.

As for the x recruiting class. Not worried, the way x recruits any more at least one of those players will likely not qualify and there will be other roster attrition in the off season. 1 step forward, 2 steps back. That is why x is a long shot for the tournament, again...

Mack won with sean millers players he left and last year his players were gone to. What happened? Mack's guys didn't even make the NIT and this year BGSU takes u guys to OT, so yes Mack is awful. Also this is college not nba....so what they are projected in the nba doesn't matter(sk will be the best player in the gym Saturday night). Xavier's biggest game is Saturday but I expect another 15 pt win for the bearcats

Rivals had him as a 4 star. But yeah I think Scout had him as a 5. Regardless Xavier fans WAY overhyped him. Not saying he isn't good, but they made it sound like they landed Wiggins when he committed.

Espn also had him as a 4. But rankings honestly don't matter

The fact remains, UC has only been able to beat Xavier 6 times in the last 17 years. That's pretty bad, and could hardly be labeled as competitive. With Xavier now in the better conference, and having an outstanding recruiting class coming in, this may be one of the last years UC has a chance.

Ask ESPN if the Big East is a premier conference. They want nothing to do with the NBE, not televising one game and not promoting any of their games. UC is on ESPN 11 times this season, X-0.0. Due to lack of viewership the next contract offered by fox will be significantly less.

That is fantastic IMO. There should have been no way in hell we should have played one game for UC at home at Cintas and then went back to Xavier campus the next year. At the very least it should have been a 2 year home and away at Cintas with the option of re-assessing after that point.

Judging by a rumored boycot and the chants after the last Eggs game it is apparent not much has changed. If they think a two year home and away at Cintas is unfair...they are delusional.

I guess this post doesn't make a lot of sense unless you put US Bank where it says Cintas. LOL!

To be honest Xavier is lucky the game even gets played at all. If UC was like OSU it would NOT be played. This game means EVERYTHING to X and in the grand scheme of things very little to UC. X fans have wet dreams about this game. They are so desperate for the UC game to come around each year they are already chanting about it in the stands in the previous game. LOL...dorks! They will probably have a moment of silence in classes this week at some point to pray about the outcome.

To UC it is more of a nuisance. We have very little to gain and more to lose. It will hardly effect our seasonal ranking or NCAA seeding either way. It has nothing to do with our conference. It's basically a charity game playing for our little sister for the enjoyment of the fans of the city...and it can ONLY be at our expense.

It's still called the Big East but it's nothing compared to what it once was. It's like "Saved by the Bell the Next Class" - Xavier is the Screech of the college basketball world.

As far as recruiting goes, it seems like Mack is more interested in the number of stars assigned by a recruiting service than evaluating players that fit the program. The best x teams were made up of less heralded recruits that were tenacious (they were annoying but tenacious none the less) and the whole was greater than the sum of their parts. Now the team seems to lack an identity - or possibly they have taken on the identity of their coach - no depth or substance and outmatched.

Exactly. This is xu's whole season, just another game for us

Agreed. This game is a big deal for both fan bases -- to act otherwise is silly.

Agreed as well. As a life long UC fan the crosstown shootout is one of the only games I look forward to. And I always enjoy the game.

And we really only have 2 rivals... with Louisville leaving the conference, we can't afford to lose our other rival. I do look forward to renewing a rivalry with Memphis, but I don't think it will quite match Xavier or Louisville.

Anyone remember the little rivalry we had with Charlotte back in the late '90s? What was that guy's name that blew kisses to his fiancee or whatever... Diego something, right?

Having an argument with a Xavier fan, someone clarify for me. Didn't Chris Mack get in a fight when he played for Xavier? Against UD or something? More details or a link or something would be nice. He thinks I'm full of crap....
