It is interesting: Xavier claims we're afraid to play them at the Cintas Center; the equivalent argument is they are afraid to play us on a neutral floor.

I understand what you are saying here but I am not sure it speaks to the real problem. I don't think either team is "scared" to play anywhere. The problem is we are giving up (or gave up) advantages for this game that we normally wouldn't give to anyone else. When Eggs was small time...and if they were from another state...we would have never given them home and away every year. Now that they are better established (which I think we had a small part in) the home and away looks a bit more rational. From a PR standpoint it's tough for us to cancel this rivalry that we helped build.

This is a problem we created that OSU would have never considered. We had the upperhand and we basically gave it away.

There was a time when UC played this rivalry up EVERY bit as much as Eggs (I remember) and that is the only way we can succeed if we continue it. Treating it as any other game (when they don't) is going to see us continue to get similar results as we have seen recently IMO.

Guys, seriously... I hate Xavier as much as the next UC fan, but quit acting like they a mid-major program and we're freaking Duke.

Xavier fans act like morons when the game is at Cintas. I get that. But don't act like we are too important to do a home-and-home with Xavier. Their average attendance is higher than ours. They are in a conference that is on equal footing with ours. They have had more success in the tournament in the past 10 years than we have. Stop acting like elitists. We complain about how OSU treats us, then we turn around and try to big-time Xavier the same way OSU does us. It's ridiculous. Remember where you came from.

It's part of having a rivalry. I get where you are coming from, and I partially agree, but I guarantee if you go to Xavier boards, they will say the same things about UC as we say about them. As long as it is all in good spirit and just normal pre-Shootout (or "pre-classic", for all of the politically correct losers) trash talk, there are no problems. And guess what, if we were Duke, we would be doing the same thing except talking about UNC instead of Xavier. It's a big game and it is full of trash talk, like it or not.

after Louisville leaves the aac their conference will be better than ours..... It is definitely deeper right now

I disagree. Duke and UNC fans despise each other and talk trash, sure. But they both realize they are top-tier programs. Cincinnati fans should realize that, to the rest of the country, we are no better or worse than Xavier. We are more-or-less equals, and to act like we are too good for Xavier is asinine.

This is what UC should and iss possibly thinking. At this point I dont care what conference X is in. I dont care what they have done in the tourney. The leadership, I.E. the president, the a.d., the fans are trash. They dont respect U.C. one bit. They have disrespected our team, coaches, our A.d. too many times over the last 10-15 years. The fight a few years ago was the tipping point for UC and we aren't going back. Do you know our A.D. and family had to be escorted out by police. Our assistant coach, Larry Davis's wife and daughter were spit on and had X people threatening them. Shit Kenny Ogre Frease said he was going to kill them. I personally think the Xavier leadership goes out of their way to tarnish UC's image. Its either our (uc) way or the highway. I wouldn't step foot again on their shoe box size shit hole campus. Quote that Cincy Enquirer.

It all starts at the top and the most important people at X are the biggest instigators in this game. Its time for UC's leaders to grow a pair and stop taking their bullshit.

I've got no problem with your line of thinking. I just don't like it when Cincinnati fans act like we're too good to play them because of our on-court success/national profile. If the reason is because of Xavier fans and the university being unruly/disrespectful, then that's fine.

It is interesting to note that nearly every forum topic on the xavierhoops.com basketball board is about the Crosstown Classic...

I agree and thats how I feel. That is how UC should feel too. Xavier imo has never and will never show UC an ounce of respect. I am nt even talking about their fans. It all starts with the top dogs and Xavier's head people continue to be classless. They hide and downplay every dirty thing they do and try to tarnish UC. UC head officials need to put their power in action and simply demand certain things or move on. There is absolutely no respect and ultimately why this "rivalry" has been fizzling out.

I read an article in the Enquirer with Mack saying playing the game at US Bank is a reminder on why its played there and thats a bad thing. Well news flash Chris, it should be a reminder of how trashy and classless your team and university acted. It was X that started the entire fight and they should be reminded of why they have to play at US Bank. He still can't accept any responsibility.

I hope we kick this sh!t out of them tonight. Let's go!! :)

Good point. We weren't angels in the situation, but X started that fight. They had the "gangsters" in their locker room and let it play out on the court with a complete lack of class. UC reacted and because Yancy Gates is the only player that can land a punch we took the heat for the situation.

When you look at these two teams today they are on much more equal footing. The reason their fans have gottens so rabid is because we allowed this game to happen home and away for so long ON CAMPUS when X was NOT as good as they are today. There was no forethought put into this game when we were elite and they weren't.

There should have been a time in the past when UC said listen you are going to have to give us something if you want this to continue. You want a home and away...pay up. Otherwise we are willing to give you a home, home, away. There was a time Eggs would have taken this deal. Not any more...and today it still means more to them which now puts us at a disadvantage...now that our success is a little more equal as programs.

Now it's too late. The are several things that can change to our advantage is our team's attitude toward the game now, where we play it USB , Eggs becomes big brother and it means more to us, or cancel it. It's time to return the favor...literally...we were doing them a favor for a long time...and look where it's gotten us.

Couple of observations.

1. As much as I like SK he can not run the point. Just can not handle the ball well enough to create a mismatch.

2. If this team is going to progress the freshman are going to have to play bigger roles. JJ, Sanders and Guyn are difference makers against sub standard competition. They are role players against good teams. Mick is going to have to live with the youngsters making mistakes but if we don't grow them as players we are in trouble going forward.
