UC vs. UConn Round 3

Wow. Very disappointing. Once again we shouldn't lose a game but I'm sorry we deserved to. Free throws and poor offensive production dooms us.

The fundamental issue with this team and other Cronin teams is shining through tonight. Lack of natural basketball talent. We have only one person who can simply go get a basket or get fouled. Sanders, Guyn, Rubles, and at times Thomas simply provide 0 threat on offense. Can only play defense for so long. So frustrating.

Hold onto the ball any longer Caupain?

Johnson > Guyn or Caupain. Fact.

Jackson and Caupain (not counting the passes) moved the ball all of 2 feet combined during that last possession.

umm no. they looked for SK to get open. it was actually smart instead of just running down with the ball.

SK had plenty of time, he just missed a contested lay up.

Great effort at the end, but the unfortunate truth is that this team is too deficient offensively to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament. If we had a secondary scorer on the perimeter, we would be national title contenders.

Uconn definitely grabbed the net while the ball was on the rim. Basket interference! Oh well maybe some rest will help the squad

They should still be moving the ball up the court and forcing the defense to get back. They gave the D time to get to the paint. UConn won't foul a stationary player. Caupain looks lost in the big moments to me at least. I don't know why KJ isn't on the court - he's earned minutes.

I don't like SK went to his left.

Free throws.

The shot by Sanders was Jer-diculous.

We have athletes, SK is the only real basketball player at times. I would start to call Sanders a legit threat, he is a solid role player. Shaq, who knows which Shaq will show up? Rubles could be more involved offensively, just look at Memphis where he drove and finished around the rim. Guyn had a good game or two, but he just isn't very good. Like Jeff said, I wish Mick would scratch the stupid Guyn, SK, Thomas lineup for Caupain, SK, and Johnson lineup. Might not work, but what the heck? It's about what gives us the best chance to win, and right now, I don't think Shaq and Guyn give us the best chance.

Great take by SK at the end...fully expected him to make it and get the foul to win.

Just can't play that bad all second half and make it all up in 1 minute. If Cronin doesn't find some offense they will be a 1 win team in the tourney. Hopefully we get matchups against teams and coaches that can't take SK away completely

SK got a good look. It did seem like someone grabbed the net but couldn't tell if it was a UC player or a UConn player.

They just completely locked us up for most of the second half and Kilpatrick was shut down until late.

He had a chance to prove why he felt he should have been the POY and the ball bounced out....

For sure they did. Daniels grabbed it

Missed call, I agree after watching it again. Oh well, we lost because of free throws, not because of that. JJ is 0-7 from the line the last two games, that is freakin ridiculous! You would think that with the law of averages, he would at least make one!

Well that was a kick to the nuts. Couldn't have asked for a better opportunity at the end, just didn't fall. Need a serious regrouping but honestly I think uconn is one the worst matchups for Cincy in the country. Didn't realize how long they were. Let's get ready for Sunday and hope for the best

Shaq, Sanders and Caupain are liabilities on the defensive end in the half-court. Johnson has started to find the bottom of the net but Cronin only let's him find his bottom on a chair. Johnson should be getting 15-20 minutes/game as long as he's not fouling/turning the ball over/giving up open looks

The net thing made no difference. The ball was already coming off the rim the 3rd time it bounced off, and it's not like the net was really pulled down. The rim didn't budge from what I could tell watching in slow motion. The ball was already coming off the rim for the final time anyway.

Do you remember the first 2 possessions he was in for the second half? They consisted of a quick contested 3 and a brick that hit nothing but the backboard. You could see mick telling him to relax.

Caupain and Thomas were abysmal and I mean abysmal on defense tonight. Thomas lost Giffey three times off the ball that turned into a nine points. Caupain blew multiple assignments on Boatright. As for Guyn he is elite on defense and a complete non factor on offense. So much frustration right now. Also thought SK was much too passive tonight.

That doesn't matter. By rule it's goal tending, but I'm not surprised the AAC refs blew the call.
