That late-season fade a year ago might not mean anything as far Cronin is concerned, but the players who went through it haven't forgotten.

"That was a real bad feeling," said sophomore forward Yancy Gates. "We all don't want to feel that again. We started off kind of decent last year, but coming down the stretch it was kind of like we fell apart. We felt like we lost to some teams last year that we should have beaten."

Gates attributes the collapse to a young team's immaturity and says the Bearcats are better prepared this year.

Junior forward Rashad Bishop said the players were simply worn out.

"It was a lack of depth," Bishop said. "Toward the end of the season, we were wearing down. It was tough because you couldn't really perform the way you wanted to. We were trying to, but it was hard because we were so worn out."

This is why Mick has been playing 10 guys this season. He does not want to wear the guys out.

People are so outrageous in the comments section under anything UC bball. Some people are actually blaming Mick because the game is on ESPNU and they cannot watch it.

I'm seriously beginning to think that the majority of Cincinnati sports fans are dumb, hillbilly, idiots who have pea sized brains. Am I far off?

You're probably not far off. It's fair to note however that the most rabid fans of any sports team at any level are likely exactly the same.

I consider myself a rapid sports fan, but I exercise logic and reason.

Maybe I should annoint myself ruler of all rabid sports fans.

As am I, and I like to think I exercise logic and reason as well. I amend my statement to:

To wit: Have you read the comments that follow any of Bill Koch's articles? No matter what the topic of the article is, the discussion comes back to Bob Huggins...sometimes positive, sometimes negative. These lemmings are pathetic, discussing a man who has absolutely no relevance to Lance's development or UC beating the zone or any number of other things related to UC's current team. But there sure are a lot of them.

In the end, I don't think UC fans are any worse than fans of any opposing team...but they sure aren't better either. Except for WVU fans.

I refuse to read the comments after the articles now. About a year ago was the last time I did so. Some of those guys at 100% idiots that just try and get a rise out of people, and they're usually pretty successful in doing so.

The comments are pathetic. That spawned my reference to "pea sized brains." I cannot believe that some people still compare Huggins to Mick, or dream about what Huggins could accomplish at UC in the Big East. It has absolutely no relevancy regarding anything today.

The people that continue to talk about the Huggins scenario have some weird mental disorder that I'm glad does not infect me. I'm sure they are hillbilly idiots that live in a van down by the river, and attend libraries to use the free computer thingy and take advantage of this internet fad.

Exactly. 100% idiots. I truly believe that those idiots believe what they're typing. Hard to fathom.
