Nice snippets from Coach Davis on each player. This is a very good trio to restock our front line. I believe by seasons end many will be happy DeBerry signed early. A guy with his size who can play and now "gets it" is going to garner a ton of attention as the season progresses.

Moore is the jewel but Clark and Deberry are both going to be really good for UC and the 3 together give us just what we need.

I agree, this is the class that we needed. Coupled with the current freshman class this is going to be a tough team for a while. If Morman redshirts does that mean there won't be an additional signing for the 2014 class?

I wondered that too. Is Strickland included? Does that put us one over?

Redshirting does not effect number of scholarships available. They have 4 scholarships for 2014. 3 were signed yesterday so they still have one available if they choose to use it.
Does anybody have a clue as to what they will do as far as a position of need with the last scolly?

If Morman and Strickland are in fact added to that class they may change their focus for the final spot. They have already added 3 front court players. Add Strickland that would be 4. Morman (I still dont fully understand the reasoning behind his redshirt given what he brings to the table on both offense and defense) fills the impact guard spot. I think before those two were redshirting they may have been looking at another Juco big man or hybrid like Titus. Now I'm not so sure. I think they may go big or go home. What I mean by that is really go after someone they think is a big time impact player and if they dont get them they will just pocket the scholarship for 2015 to even out the classes. Interesting situation. Two players Im most interested in at this point is Eubanks and Osama. Not sure how involved with Eubanks we are at this point. Osama is really early in the process.

Should Moore be considered a 4 or a 5? I know Clark is pretty obviously a 3.

I would call Clark a hybrid 4. Moore can really shoot it for a guy his size. I think UC envisions him as a 4. The real challenge will be to get Quadri to accept that role. His knock up to this point is that he drifts to the perimeter too often.

Sounds like Yancy.

I'm not sure I want conventional bigs anymore. Rubles and Jackson down low makes us difficult to defend and have the athleticism to dominate the defensive end. I don't want slow bigs that sit on the block, give me kids like Rubles that can create massive mismatches. Anyone with me on this?

I wouldn't mind having both. Not necessarily a "slow" big as you describe, but it would be nice to have a guy with some size that can bang when needed. I was worried when NC State brought out that big boy that it would cause us problems.

Deberry and Strickland give you two big bodies at the 5. I think Moore plays the 4 and let's not forget Lawrence will be back which gives you 5 low post players. Clark will be similar to Wilkes with a better shot in the role he plays imo.

Guyn will be a Sr. and and Caupain So. KJ and Mormon are your future 2 guards but Mormon can slide over to the 1 but is better suited for the wing. JD3 at this point in the season is the player searching for a spot now and in the future.

Sanders will be a Sr. and Thomas a Jr. so to me UC should be looking true pg, 2 that can shoot and score or a 3 that can shoot. All their bigs will be Jr. or under. I don't think Stricklands status changes that nor does Mormans. It's apparent to me Mick is hoping Strickland becomes eligible this season.

I agree to an extent. However, it would be great to have Devontae Garnder type big man who can come in off the bench and score in the low post. It is a good change of pace.

I hate to say it but I look at next year as the dreaded "rebuilding year". We will lose our likley 3 most productive and all around stats producers. Our veterans to look for guidance to will be ST, JS, GG and JDIII. I can't say at this point I see vocal leaders in this bunch but I am guessing Mick will push a couple of them (if not all) to step up thier games and leadership.

If we get two redshirts this year we will have 6 first year players and 3 second year players for a total of 9 of of our 13.

I see us starting to have a lot more balance in the future.

At center I could see Strickland, Debarry, and maybe Moore

At Pf I can see Lawrence, Moore, and Clark

AT SF I can see Thomas, Sanders, Lawrence, Clark, or maybe Mormon

At SG I can see Johnson, Mormon, and JDIII

At PG I can see Guyn, Caupain, and maybe KJ, Mormon, JDII

The only thing I don't see here is an athletic human eraser at C and a pure shooter. Finding another stud PG would also be fine with me. To fill out this particular class I would go pure shooter and follow up next year with PG (since we will lose GG) and human eraser at C.

Coach said Mormon will be redshirting in his post game comments. He also said with Morman and KJ another team may never get the ball past half court.
