Defense has been the problem late in games. Not offense. Defense is a collective issue and an attitude/effort issue. Can't pin it on one player in most cases.

If UC wants to win at Moody, like last year, they need to step up and play defense like they did against Tulsa. Offensively, they will be fine. Get stops and get a win.

If we play with the effort we did against Tulsa, we have a real shot. I realize offense hasn't been the problem overall, but we need to execute down the stretch. You have to have very defined roles in those situations. I think Caupain is clearly the go-to guy. So I'd like for him to get a 3 or so minute break around/in between the 12 and 8 media timeouts every game.

Will he needs be benched for performance then! Jenifer is instant offense and our bigs score easily with him in game. Btw, jenifer hasn't played one second this year with socalled starting 5. Let him run with starters and guarantee the entire system runs smoother.

You do realize Jenifer has the same turnover rate as our bigs right? In terms of our guards, he has the worst.

Only 2 players have higher Turnover rates than Jenifer, Moore and Ellis. He is a freshman and is turning over the ball like a freshman.

he is a good defensive player.

Lol, yeah right Waite. Caupain has been weak defensively since the day he walked in here. Try attending some games and you might see it. You keep telling us about all your coaching experience. Statements like this make me question your claims.

It's easy not turn ball over just passing back and forth around perimeter. Our guards turn it over unforced whenever they actually try to feed post. Jenifer is by far head and shoulders better than anybody on team passing. Btw, I believe he has ONLY 1 turnover past 7-8gms

DEFENSE isn't issue when your up 3-4pts and your all league PG just tosses other team ball unforced. Troy wants nothing to do with ball in clutch time

What? Are you serious man... do you remember last season against purdue or how clutch TC was against Nebraska and GW..

The dude wants the ball, but he also isn't kilpatrick and isn't a natural scorer. Benching your proven players in crunch time isn't going to fix the problem. Im betting TC rights the ship in crunch time in one of these up coming games.

I hope so. Like i tell my kids i care less what you do against weak competition. I measure you against the best of best. Do you remember butler or isu?

I dont make up the Turn over rate up man. Kenpom does... Add in that in Jenifer's last few games, they mostly been single digit minutes so you better not turn it over.

TC has one of the best Assist to Turnover ratio's in the country. And I dont think many people would have predicted that this season.

Caupain is ranked nationally #22 in all of america in Assist to Turnover ratio

Why on god's earth would you bench him

NOBODY said bench troy. If we're down 10 to start game I'm more than likely benching entire 5. Troy doesn't try to pass so I'm NEVER looking at his as t to to ratio.

You are taking that bench Caupain thing way out of context. Waite said we can't take Caupain off the floor bc we keep getting off to slow starts, so Bulldog said if we keep getting off to slow starts then bench the players responsible for that. That's the way I understood it. To twist it into saying he thinks just in general, down the stretch, whatever, that Caupain should be benched is dishonest.

Simple basketball 101.

His assist to turnover rate is 22 in the nation, which is very good. Does he create a lot of assists with his passing? No, he is very safe and gets a lot of assists around the 3 point line with simple passes to the wing and corner when Cobb's and KJ's shots are dropping. Some of those passes inside that you saw Jenifer make in the last game, you would never see those passes from Caupain. However, I saw him feed the post more in the Tulsa game than I've ever seen him before.

Troy doesn't try to pass??? HUh he is averaging 5 assist a game to just 1.4 turnovers a game.

And if you look at TC Last 6 games he's had:
6 assists-2 TO vs XU
6 and 2 vs Norfolk st
4 and 2 vs VCU
4 and 1 vs Iowa State
7 and 2 vs Temple
7 and 3 vs Tulsa

You don't bench your best players simply because they are down points. You would never bench SK for an off shooting night because the odds are he will turn it around. You play your most effective players as long as you can UNLESS they aren't giving effort or are making mistakes.

For the same type of reason I would not pull Caupain at the end of games because he understands and cares more than anyone on the team. He's made some mistakes....but he's also a MAJOR reason we were in the games in the first place. He has learned a lesson and will adjust.

I would still like to get him a breather more often. Evans needs to step up at the end and assert himself...that will also help.
