Caupain has been more aggressive since the VCU game imo. That's a good thing.
If he improve conditioning he'll be hell of a player. He's already strongest on team I would drop some pounds to pick up speed. Troy looks like he doesn't trust his athleticism at times.

I predict Caupain will be 1st team AAC.

He'll have to be to turn this season around. I don't see him being 1st team. Maybe 2nd or 3rd team. But, if he is 1st, then we'll have a very good ending to this season. Hope you're right.

His assist to turnover rate is 22 in the nation, which is very good. Does he create a lot of assists with his passing? No, he is very safe and gets a lot of assists around the 3 point line with simple passes to the wing and corner when Cobb's and KJ's shots are dropping. Some of those passes inside that you saw Jenifer make in the last game, you would never see those passes from Caupain. However, I saw him feed the post more in the Tulsa game than I've ever seen him before.

I would like to see JJ get more minutes. He definitely has big upside in terms of passing. He is a better passer right now than TC. He needs more reps and his assists will go up...and unfortunately so will his turnovers because he does still make stupid mistakes.

Troy is definitely our starter and best game manager. We need him to drive the ball more and try to get fouled or get to the rim. TC is also the better defender of the two. TC is our best option at PG but JJ's minutes should increase.

The good thing is they are on the same team and can both be used. I think Cronin needs to find JJ some more minutes.

His foot speed is his biggert issue. I think I heard an announcer say that he bench presses the most on the team. That doesn't say much for some of our bigger guys though.

You don't bench your best players simply because they are down points. You would never bench SK for an off shooting night because the odds are he will turn it around. You play your most effective players as long as you can UNLESS they aren't giving effort or are making mistakes.

For the same type of reason I would not pull Caupain at the end of games because he understands and cares more than anyone on the team. He's made some mistakes....but he's also a MAJOR reason we were in the games in the first place. He has learned a lesson and will adjust.

I would still like to get him a breather more often. Evans needs to step up at the end and assert himself...that will also help.
If troy isn't sk or kemba, that means the top 7-8 should all be on same level. If troy played with Moore kj deberry Evans he wouldn't look so hot either. Let jenifer run with so called better players and watch team take off.

Seems to be problem for a lot of our guys.

I actually think more reps will bring his assist to turnover rate up (more assists/less turnovers). He has been making zero stupid mistakes in the last 7-8 games as evidensed by his 8 assists and 1 turnover. You could argue that some of his shot selections were stupid, but his shots are falling again. I watched him in pregame warm-ups the other night and he hit every 3 that he threw up. He couldn't miss. Maybe he's working hard on his shot and we'll see him become more and more effective from outside. We keep criticizing him for his shot, but we're half way through the season and his percentages are holding steady.

Gotta admit his shot ugliest on team. He knocks it down with ease though. I'll like see him get in lane to use floater

If I were coaching, I would definitely make one change....put Jenifer in when we're playing for the last shot at the half. Troy is awful and holds the ball too long before he starts his movement. We rarely score at the end of the half. I would much rather have Jenifer's creativity and vision, plus he can create a shot as well. He's also a good FT shooter. That doesn't mean that Troy is out. Put him on the floor as well. But, we suck in that situation

I also feel that Troy lives in a "safe" zone when it comes to assists. But at crunch time, he is almost forced out of his comfort zone and has to create something, which in my opinion, is why he is more prone to mistakes then. And yes, I remember the Purdue game.

I don't think people notice it enough but since I saw a question earlier "Does Troy create assists with his passing?" It's time to chime in.

He may not be as flashy or make the risky pass as often as JJ. JJ has a special vision and he's good at what he does with no looks etc. Flashy does not equal more effective by any stretch. Especially if turnovers are high...which he seems to be improving.

Troy does an excellent job of simply dribbling right to spots where two defenders need to creep over...he stands there until it happens then dumps the ball over them to the open man. A lot of times it's right near the elbow.

They are two completely different types of point guards...but Troy's numbers are Excellent in that category.

Mick had actually started trying to do that L-T in couple games. Don't know why he stop trusting jenifer at end of half. Jenifer is going to have problems with Mick by moving to fast for him. Mick loves to control every possession from sideline, jenifer moves and basketball IQ to high for restrictions

Most of troy assists come in transition. Other than that off 3pt shots. Nothing wrong with his selection I just have a guy on bench that can make everybody on team better including troy

I keep envisioning them playing together and that excites me. I think they would compliment each other well.

That's pretty good for a guy who walks the ball up the court...to get most of his assists in transition

I think the only way to do this is for KJS minutes to come down...but I certainly wouldn't mind it. If JJ subbed for Caupain for 5 minutes and pushed troy off ball for 5...i wouldn't mind trying it. If Cobb gets 25 at the 2 and Caupain 5 at the 2...and Evans 5 at the 2? KJ would be feeling a serious squeeze.

He would still find a way to get all his shots up in that 5 minutes.

Lol, yeah right Waite. Caupain has been weak defensively since the day he walked in here. Try attending some games and you might see it. You keep telling us about all your coaching experience. Statements like this make me question your claims.
you questioning my claims is not a big concern of mine. LMAO!!!! Nor is your doubting my evaluation of Caupain as a good defender. I think you should stick to cheer leading. Your comments tell me you couldn't lead a pack of pee ants to water.
