Was Mick Cronin REALLY an Underachiever in March?

We haven’t experienced that in 9 years. Are you sure they feel the same?

yeah. you might even feel better saturday cause the depression will wear off.

also i enjoy the rest of the tournament more when we miss. and my brackets feel better too.

when we make it and lose i often don't watch any more games that day. i couldn't watch any more of the tournament at all 2 years ago.

I agree. We are going on a quarter century with 2 sweet 16s to show for it. Think about that. A quarter century. Heaven forbid wanting more. Fans actually defending this is crazy.

Yes, I’m aware it wasn’t all mick, but he didn’t exactly help it. Either did Huggins at the end. Some people will still be saying it’s random in another 25 years.

So how long do you give CJB to get a sweet 16?

If he don’t have one in 4 years are you ready to dump him?

If we miss the tourney 3 years running, you getting antsy ?

I feel like all the Brannen apologist have set the bar really high.

Mick dominated the regular season and won back to back conference tourney titles.

With Brannen being better then mick, it’s fair to expect that and to expect the tourney stuff. I expect a tourney in the next 2-3 years. I expect a sweet 16 by year 4. If we don’t have that , are we ready to look else where.

Mick made the tourney look easy. So much so that we’ve forgot what it feels like to miss it.

I’m dead ass serious... what have you saw through one season of play that makes you think John Brannen is going to be better than mick Cronin?

I’m not impressed by any of it so far. Not in game strategy, not coaching agility, not defense strategy or offensive sets.

The only thing I think he’s done well with is.... post player footwork development.

He didn’t make Jarron, or Keith better. The seasons almost over and all the freshman still look like freshmen, while Sasser and mills look like stars.

What gives you optimism?

It’s not the toughness. Its not the effort. I

Damn. What a revelation. I never wanna make the tourney again so we never lose a another tourney game.

Hell we should just cancel the program. That way we never experience loss again.

You’re a god damn genius gump

Hopefully you purchase front seats for the NIT though right ?

The team shoots the ball from high percentage shooting locations on the floor. And they do it a lot. At one point they were the best in the country at shoot selection. They just didn't have many guys that could make them. look at the teams we're around on this chart. thats the company we want to be with when talking about offense.

This guy developed a Tool called Shot quality.

His metrics have UC as 107th in shot quality.

does he say anywhere how he measures shot quality? i couldn't find it anywhere the one i posted is "The "Shot Selection" is how efficient a team's shot distribution is (based on NCAA avg by location)" I think the one i posted hasn't tracked all our games. Maybe we're sometimes good and sometimes not so good.

after looking at this site. i change my answer to

Brannen does a great job on defense of not giving up good shots to opponents. We are 37th in defensive shot quality.

Even if I believed that, which I don't, just based on the sheer number of layups and wide open corner 3s they give up, it's irrelevant because the other team typically gets another 2 or 3 looks at it since this team doesn't rebound.

best defensive rebounding team of the last 10 years.

Have at it. Love him to death if you want. Just don’t get mad at me when I don’t cry when he leaves.

I never said I’m crying over him leaving but I’m not gonna make ridiculous arguments as to why I’m so happy and we are better off without him. Or act as if he didn’t do a hell of a job with our program. Better recruits more tourney success. Despite that there is nothing to be desired with his time here.

Simply Getting in the tournament doesn’t excite me, like it does you. Maybe I’m in the minority. Just like the bengals getting in the playoffs doesn’t excite me. After 20 years, win in the thing. Don’t think it’s asking too much to advance to maybe an elite 8 every 25 years. No I don’t just care about the tournament but I do care about it

I know it’s like firing Marvin Lewis made the bengals so much better, I’d personally love to send the program into a ten year rebuild, that would really make it exciting when we get to our next tournament

After watching the video about 20 minutes of his video I'm guessing he includes not only shot location, but also how the shots were taken; catch and shoot, off the dribble, and so on.

Video is a good watch for anybody that wants to learn about why you see the midrange shot dying off and why teams should never shoot it.

except Cronin wasn't fired, he chose to leave. time to be a big boy and move on.

What a backwards way to look at it. Yeah it sucks losing but basically you’re saying you would rather miss the tournament 3/4 years and the tome we do go to the sweet 16. Then 3 more years without playing and so on.
