That is college BBall for you. College teams are inconsistent, outside of the elite teams with multiple NBA players. Hell even UK has had teams with inconsistent players. They missed the tourney completely a couple of years ago in a terrible conference! UCLA scored 7 points in the first half today against UK. I bet UCLA fans think the program is falling apart.

This team is struggling scoring right now. I didn't expect them to have it figured out in ten games because that is unrealistic. Our upperclassmen have been major disappointments this year. They still haven't lost a game that they easily should have won.

I couldn't agree more. Pitchford seriously. A team called INCARNATE WORD beat Nebraska at their gym. And CATS fans are suppose to respect them and be intimidated by them. Hell their not even that good in football anymore and now their kicking our ass in Hoops. That right theres a huge sign of whats happened and happening. I'm done with it. And dont call me fareweather because theres not one CATS fan NOT 1 who like what they see in BB IQ, talent, coaching, offensively. NOT 1.

Wrong Weez. There's a small group of fans who monopolize these fan sites who actually do like this coach and all the subpar attributes he's brought to this program. The stature and potential of this program is far beyond what we'll ever reach with Mick leading it. Nine years is more than enough of a sample size to determine this. He's won at a decent level, but it's just not good enough. There's a huge core group of fans who have lost faith and moved on and that's why we can't approach sell outs anymore and now we're giving up and downsizing our arena. We might wait 10 more years and Mick might finally figure things out and get us to the level we should be at. But, how low will the program and fanbase sink by then. Mick has won just enough to survive, and for a program that is trying to chase the dream of becoming a football power, that's good enough for now.

They might like Mick and the CATS brand along with school. I mean I like Mick. But hes not here to make friends. Noone can like the basketball product if they do they have no idea what the game is suppose to look like. Running a basic inbounds pass during a press can be taught in one practice. And if it cant then it's on the coach or the players are that bad. Either way it's a bad product now. Nebraska losing to INCARNATE WORD and the mighty HARVARD team that knocked us out just lost by 50 to Maryland. CATS couldn't even score on them with Killa. It's just bad. I could talk all day. Everyone claiming all these guys lately being great CATS players hell they wouldnt of started in the Huggs era. If all these players were great they would of sniffed the league.

I thought you said in another post you were done with UC. Go take your Harrell jersey and cry about some more things you can't change. You're the type of fans that make UC unenjoyable. Bye bye.

Enough of this BS over a team's name. We get it. Last time i checked that had no bearing on the way the team plays.

Are we going to have a great offense at any point this season? No.

Are we going to make the dance? Probably not

How much stock should we put into this game? Not much

How much stock should we put into this year's trend of inconsistency? Quite a bit but it's still too early...give it till mid season.

How much stock should we put into the overall offensive trend under Cronin? A lot...he needs to address this soon

We shoot 15% from three one game and 35-45% the next...what gives? Most of these guys can knock down 1 of 3 three pointers....so it is NOT a talent thing. It is a mental issue...confidence...confusion...overthinking...etc. We have yet to shoot between 20% and 36.4% from three point in ANY game. We have shot above 36.3% 5 times and below 20.1% 5 times. Further pointing to this being a mental issue. Confidence and fear are contagious! If you are too stubborn or pessimistic you will continue with the narrative that these guys can't hit the broad side of a barn. The truth is...we aren't a great 3 point shooting team but we can reduce these really bad games to 1 or 2 in 10 instead of 5 of 10.

We have 4 guys I am ready to put on the floor together so we need just one more guy to emerge from what is a train wreck right now at the wing position. It's a huge mess but someone will start playing better and it will help this team immensely.

I'm never surprised but always amused over the comments after a loss, but all this fuss over losing to a good team under Cronin's circumstances makes me chuckle. In all honesty who thought this years team was gonna be a juggernaut?? You cant lose your 3 best/most important players, replace them with freshmen and sophomores, and expect the same results...thats just ridiculous thinking. Not one of these players has ever been relied on to be a focal point of a college team. They have a good deal of young talent that could grow into something but how about a little time? JJ was a borderline liability his first 3 years and grew into a monster for his senior year. Passion is always good from a fan base but it quickly shifts to irrationality from what i see here.

What is so magical about mid season? We're only 5 games away from that. If we look worse in game 10 than we did in game 1, what exactly are we looking for at mid season? They are going to hit the 15 gane mark and have things click into a higher gear? I appreciate the optimism, but that's not how it works. In 2 weeks we aren't going to all of the sudden find an offensive groove and never look back. Rather, a lot of us will then just kick the can down the road and shift the mentality to "well let's just see how these guys look by the end of conference play" or "at the end of the year". I'll wait til mid season if you want, but something tells me we're going to be having this same convo.

Wait till mid season is really my way of saying "chill out"...it will get better. I am not insinuating (nor have I ever) that they will become a juggernaut. It will get better and more consistent. It could be a little or a lot...that's really all I am waiting to see. Just like FT shooting:) They are already up 2 % pts from Nebraska...LOL!

It's good to know we still have rational fans:) I agree 100%. I wish our fan base wasn't so reactionary...be it after a good or bad game. It looks like we lost our ability to be objective when that happens.

Evidently, you didn't read the posts after the SDSU game. Irrationality exists on both sides.

Outside of the 3 by Sanders to tie it vs SDSU, have we shot/made a single corner 3 all year? Do you think we noticed that VCU was so good at spacing us out bc they had someone hanging out there all the time? I really wish instead of having guys on both wings, we'd send KJ/Sanders to the corner on Clark's side all the time. We don't use that area of the floor at all and it is a big flaw in our offense. Teams that space the floor well use the corners. It would give Clark more room to operate as well when he comes out to catch it at 15'.

Morman shot a corner three a few games ago, it went off the side of the backboard.

Our guards just aren't that good, specifically with ball handling. Offense has to start 40 feet out because our guards can't handle any ball pressure.

Here is the difference between the average of our 5 best nights and 5 worst nights at FT's, TO's, OR's, and 3PT's.

There is about a 10% difference between our average good and bad night. We shoot around 20 FT's on average. 10% of 20 is 2 more made FT's. Not a major impact.

Offensive rebounds. On a good night we average around 15.5 and a bad night about 10. If we make 50% of our 5.5 OR's (put backs) that is 2.75 buckets or 5.5 pts.

Turnovers. A good night average about 10 and a bad night 16.5. That is a 6.5 differential. If we make 40% of our attempts that is 2.6...if we multiply that by 2.33 with every 3rd shot a 3 pointer. That is 6 pts.

Now to the big one. Our five worst 3PT nights average out around 15% and our 5 best average out around 45%. That is a 30% difference on an average of 15 3 PT attemps. That is 13.5 PTs difference on an average good and bad night. It far and away our most important thing to work on getting more consistent at. It is worth as much as FT's, OR's, TO's combined!

Oh believe me i agree. Win=Final 4. Loss=Burn your jerseys, grab your pitch forks and storm the castle.

Not sure it works that way on the 3s. I'd guess we shoot way more 3s on the bad % nights. There is a reason for that. We may average 15 attempts per game but we don't get that many more points on the "good nights" bc we aren't attempting nearly as many at that higher %.

You probably should have researched that before just blindly guessing and then making assertions on top of it. They shot 78 attempts on the five best and five worst nights. Exactly equal.

You are proving my point that some fans would rather not look at things objectively...they just go with their gut feel about things which is often wrong. Gut feel after a bad game is going to be worse than reality (especially for the pessimist) and gut feel after a good game is going to be better than reality (especially for the optimist).

Lol. Not a blind guess. I just recall going 2-13, 2-14, and like 2-19 or something. And didn't realize we shot 22 3s in that Cobb game. I just don't care enough to look stuff like that up. Thank you for researching that though. I'm glad you took that all into account before posting it. I stand corrected. Just to be clear though, starting a post with "not sure" isn't exactly an assertion.
