In year 6 of the "rebuilding".... the year of "no excuses"... The year "things pay off".... we are an average team at best.

This team better proove something down the stretch or we will be taking a serious serious step backwards and out of the NCAA tournament.

If this team doesnt make the tournament we are in serious trouble... for several reasons.
- Im not sure anyone can say next year looks any more promisising.
- This was supposed to be a killer recruiting class, none of the freshman are ready to play.
- The Mick doubters (myself included) will go crazy... and rightfully so.
- Talk about filling the shoe? Ha, good luck.

All and all this is slowly becoming a dissapointing season. Dont get me wrong, there is alot of time left to make something happen. But Mick better figure something out, because at the end of the day losing games, not making the NCAA will reflect directly back on the head coach.

Very frustrating, everytime I think Mick is going to make it, he lets things with his team slip away.

Losing today was NOT Micks fault. The team did not execute their game plan they worked on. Its as simple as that.

This team will make the tourney.

Next year does look promising.

The frosh will get better, they are just frosh

Mick doubters go crazy after a win. There is no pleasing them. Theyd complain about their sex life even if they were sleeping with Emmanuelle Chriqui

They have filled the shoe this season. I expect the rest of the home games to sell out

Its not disappointing. We are in good position. Everyone else on the bubble lost today too. Nothing is slipping away

You are retarded. People have a right to b*tch about Cronin. I don't see how you can type that garbage with a straight face and say A) 'Losing wasn't Mick's fault' B) 'We are in good position' and C) Next year looks promising

I think 3-1 against ranked BE teams on the road is pretty damn good.

This was by far the toughest game left on the schedule. It would have been great to get it, but if not you have three straight and four of the next five games at home. Four more wins is still well within reach.

Time to regroup for Providence.

How many times have we heard....

" This game was not Micks fault"???? To many.

Look. Im not here to throw Mick under the bus, but sports are sports. When a team isnt reaching is potential for WHATEVER reason it comes back on the coach. Period. Right or wrong, a team winning or losing always resorts back to the coach.

Florida State beat North Carolina by 33, Roy Williams fault?

I'll just post the same thing I did at BCN...

I couldn't possibly disagree more with any of this. Where this program has been to where it is today is not even comparable and to even suggest, even indirectly, that Mick has not done a very good...no, an excellent job here is just turing their back to any logical thought.

I'm not going to address each of your points TLL because I think this discussion is tired and so 2008. However, I do take exception with your comment about the freshman class. First and foremost, they really haven't played much (as expected since we had our four top guys back). Second, if you look at how our program was built both in the Huggs years and now under Mick, young players really do take a back seat to the vets. Over time, the young players become the vets and, over four years, prove their worth. I like what I have seen at times especially from Guyn and Davis. To state that they have done nothing is really dishonest. If you truly do think that then your idea of their roles on this current team is extremely misguided.

In the end, though, this discussion will go back to whence it came in mid March WHEN the Cats are in the NCAA. And as a side note (and I'm definitely not stating this about TLL) but I do find it odd that some of our favorite bash Mick posters have returned today to spew their nonsense. I'd say I missed some of you guys but that would be a lie.

It was one bad loss today. But just one. And, oh yeah, Marquette is pretty damn good especially at home.

Im not here to question the strides Mick has made with this program....

But I do question whether Mick can makes the next stride.

To make a comparison. I thought Marvin Lewis came in and did a awesome job making the Bengals relevant. But by no means do I think hes bringing us a superbowl anytime soon.

All and all the bearcats have had a rough 6 games, losing 4, and have alot yet to prove as the season unfolds.

Like my points or not, I think its hard to disagree that not making the NCAA would be a step backwards.

Of course not making the tournament would be a big step backwards, but I wouldn't put that all on Mick if it happens. This is a tournament team that didn't schedule like one. For whatever reason the budget wasn't sufficient enough to schedule the 101-199 RPI teams. Instead they had to schedule with what they had and it resulted in 8 games against the 200+ crowd. Take away half of those games and replace them with teams in the 101-199 range and we are sitting pretty like WVU, UConn, and SH that likely only need a 9-9 record to make the tournament. It also hurt that we didn't get into one of the early season tournaments because you can only have one team per conference. Thankfully next year we are playing in the Vegas tournament that UNC played in this year.

All I will have to say is, I hope Mick had a pen a paper.

That is how you run an offense. Marquette was getting wide open looks and it wasnt because of lazy D. Dribble drive and quick passing can score points for you

Its nights like tonight where I switch over from my captin and coke zero to black velvet and cherry coke, flowing much quicker.

I've come to accept that this team will have no consistency under Mick. What I do have hope for is that we get hot at the right time and make a run

As much as I blame Mick for tonights game and frankly the season as a whole, the team isn't going to go anywhere with UC's veterans playing so terribly inconsistent. Dixon has been terrible all year. Wright is good for a few minutes each game and is bad for the rest. Gates just isn't good enough to put a team on his shoulders. He should have dominated today. Part of that was on the coach, but eventually the players have to quit sucking. Cash is your only PG, Dixon can be good when he takes good shots but he kills the team when he doesn't, and that's a lot. Parker airballed a freaking layup for christs sake.

The talent level on this team just isn't good enough. As much as everyone on here likes to think UC's roster is made up of all-stars, it isn't. Every player is limited in certain ways. SK isn't quick enough and has trouble handling the ball as well as being a liability on defense, Dixon can't shoot worth crap, Parker is slow and is a terrible passer, Cash is weak, injured, and can't finish if he gets touched at all. It goes on and on. If this team is going to win, it's going to come from sticking to their roles and out hustling their opponents. That's not happening now.

This is why I feel it is coaching. A coach is responsible for putting his players in the best position to succeed. You have no scorers, inconsistent shooting, and little bball IQ, yet your offense is basically to clear out? I want to see off the ball screens, I want to see dribble drive, I want to see drive and dish, I want to see guys moving without the ball. It does not happen. It is like watching the and 1 mix tape tour without the talent

The current offense plays to the Cats strengths when they execute it. Spreading the floor and creating driving lanes actually was fairly successful in the game today. This team is like the lesser talented UL teams of the past. They rely so much on inconsistent guards. Hopefully for the future SK can develop into a consistent scorer and someone like Guyn, Davis or Sanders can become viable on offense, because the latter two definitely have a better feel for the game then veteran guards and Guyn will be a valuable asset as a defensive effort guy. Throw Shaq Thomas into that and the future should be pretty set.

We can agree to disagree, but one thing they should not do is walk the ball up the court. Be on the attack, esp with the offense they are running right now
