What we are... in year 6

Ad Hominem attack? Here's the problem with Mick apologists like you. You always credit him on a big win. ALWAYS. On a crappy loss, you always blame the players just like he does.

Like TLL, I too am appreciate of Mick stepping up to coach a program that literally had nothing. But this isn't some mid major school. We are in the Big East. We have a national reputation. We need to start seeing results. We need to start seeing players develop. We need to start seeing players go to the NBA again

Last year he was on the hot seat and would have most likely been gone had he not made the tourney. This year, with all the talent coming back and a preseason top 25 team, they may not make the tourney. Not only that, this team played like garbage until after the crosstown shootout at full strength. Why did it take him so long to realize the talents of this team and utilize it? Had he instituted this offense earlier, there's no way we lose to Marshall, X, or Presbyterian.

I know your response is going to be 'look at indiana' or some school like that...Indiana beat the #1 team in the country. Indiana has 2 top 10 recruiting classes coming in. Indiana is on the rise. Can we say the same for UC under Mick Cronin?

UC is 7-5 in the Big East, Indiana is 7-6 in the Big 10.

Crean's Big 10 record at IU is 15-52.

Thats the problem with you, living legend and others. You dont realize how great of a coach w have and your expectations were unrealistic for a decimated program. Without mick, uc would be a way below average team. You and living legend are just way too emotional

Mick is like President Obama. Mick spends all his time recruiting with poor results and neglects his coaching duties leading to poor outcomes of games, just like Obama spends all his time campaigning on the taxpayers dollar while doing nothing for the country. :D

Crean's Big 10 record at IU is 15-52.

Tom Crean beat Kentucky, Ohio State, and Michigan this year. The Big 10 is one of the best if not the best conferences in the country. Tom Crean has top flight recruiting classes coming in next year and the year after.

There is reason for optimism at IU.

When all you can come up with is, look what he came into, you know that you have lost this argument.

That has little to do with the ability to coach. His schemes do nothing to help this team win. Its hustle and making jumpers, that is not coaching

Cincinnati will likely never be "elite" again meaning being in the top 15 year after year. UC's goal should be to be a lock for the tournament 3 of every 5 years with the other 2 of 5 being bubble team/NIT bids.

They should be good 3 of 5 years and the other 2 be top 15

I hope Mick doesnt think like you

You play in a conf where atleast half the teams make the NCAA. The opportunity is there, run with it. No more excuses

You are setting yourself up to be disappointed. Cincinnati will be a consistent tournament team, with the occasional top 15 finish.

The problem with people like you is that you make this argument ridiculous from the start. You elevate Mick to a level that he certainly hasn't earned nor does he deserve. Mick should be credited for bringing the program back to where it is today but the rest he will have to earn. These were the years he was supposed to be earning his status. Rebuilding is over, it was over 2 seasons ago. If we miss the tourney this season it's a complete failure. We started the season ranked in the Top 25, ending it unranked is a disappointment, ending it out of the tourney is a complete failure. Questioning if Mick can get UC to an elite level is totally legit, saying that he's already done that is insane.

To say that without Mick we would be way below average is unfounded and stupid. So there aren't any other coaches out there who could have done a better job than Mick has done? It's a ridiculous statement.......there are plenty of good coaches out there who have done more with less and who might thrive with an opportunity to coach at UC. Not saying they would or wouldn't but to say that Mick is the only one who can do what he's done so far is stupid.

Exactly. Of course this will fly over BM's head

There is reason for optimism at IU.

And there was reason for optimism at UC last year. Then we took a small step back. I'm not yet sold on IU long term.

Really good post above mine by UCB. I like Cronin a lot and I think he has done enough to stay, but lets give him credit for the results he has earned, not pretend he's done anything more than he has. His track record is strong enough to stand on its own IMO without making excuses for him or saying he's Coach K. We all know the circumstances. We all know the results. You are either exaggerating or being dishonest about one of those 2. It is what it is at this point. A solid rebuilding job with work still to do if he's going to be the long-term solution here. Honestly, I think he would tell you that himself. I hope he's the guy to help us take that next step and continue the progression, but I certainly wouldn't discredit anyone who thinks otherwise.

Thought this was a great post.

I have legitimate concerns about there overall consistency issues and offensive scheme...that doesnt mean I dont like Mick.

That's what the BearcatMicks want everyone to believe. You have to always 100% support Mick and if you don't, you are unreasonable because of the situation Mick was dealt

I like the upperclassmen and I think they are good kids but they are too laid back and it really effects the team.

I agree. This team lacks leadership from the players. We don't have anyone aggressive and assertive enough to rally the troops. Gates and Dixon are important players, but neither are leaders. I don't see Cash as a leader either.

There definitely is no sense of urgency with this team.

Its as factual as you can get. Mick was the only coach who stepped up and wanted the uc job. He saved the program. That is not debatable

Nothing flew over my head. You are being unreasonable and not acknowledging the situation mick was put in

No it was a horrible post. It was not objective at all.

Not true. Why won't you give Mick credit for this new offense? You hate the man irrationally so much that you'd rather see him suffer than the team win

Your email signature speaks for itself. Don't you ever get tired of the same old act? There are some people on this site who enjoy having a sprited debate about what they think is best for UC hoops, why do you and Ralph (same person) always have to ruin this place for everyone else?

I like the upperclassmen and I think they are good kids but they are too laid back and it really effects the team.

I think that this was very evident against Marquette. Sr's DJO and Crowder really turned it up and our seniors had no answer. Dixon had 0 boards and Yancy has yet to show a sense of urgency his whole Sr. year.
