When are the young guys going to step up?

They aren't. With the exception of maybe Shaq and Rubles, micks recruiting has sucked for several years. I think next years class is good though. But you can't only get a good class every 4 years.

Well said.

And it doesnt help when each off season we are led to believe that things will be different.

UCbearcats hit on it. Im tired of hearing our offense will be much better off now that Lance is gone.....Our offense will have more ball movement now that Vaughn is gone.....Kila is going to come in and give this team the ability to get to the rim.....The offense is going to be more uptempo now that Gates is gone. Im tired of getting my hopes up and each season its the same crap.

Just tell it as it is Mick, you cant figure out an offense

Absolutely not. Jackson was tearing up the big east tourney and NCAA tourney last year with energy, blocked shots, points, rebounds, effort and assists. Everyone loved him. Now all the sudden "he sucks".

Most college players have their ups and downs especially young ones. Micks recruiting is fine

If you want to look at abysmal recruiting look across town

The offense is fine. The players just need to hit their open looks and finish at the rim.. It's that simple

Yea youre right...

We have got to be the leading scoring team in the country in the "all 5 guys standing around offense." Its def unique

Jackson is a terrific role player. He does not have starter talent. Mick has been getting a lot of those role players. But seemed to whiff when it came to getting that starter talent. I think next year's class as terrific promise. But they better be ready to play sooner than later based upon what will be left from this years team.

I'm not too concerned with this years team yet. As I've said Mick has proven to make his teams better come March. Cash, Parker, and SK will make sure this team makes some noise. But look at next year...especially if SK happens to leave for some reason...going to have some serious growing pain. Who's the go-to player?

And on this... I hate Xavier as much as you do. But if they are such a poor program, terrible coach, terrible fans, terrible recruiting... why point to being better than them as success?

You also point out how terrible Lavin is yet he has out recruited Mick and out coached him in the recent past.

Thats the problem in bold. I have no problem with running a spread motion offense. I believe in it and ran a lot of motion when I played. The problem I have with the offense is that the players have yet to learn how to effectively run it!! I mean, its on the coaches and players at this point I am not sure who is more responsible. Our young guys aren't going to step up because they are clearly dependent on the 3 amigos. When we run our offense, don't look at the guy with the ball, look at the other 4 players. We have 3 players standing being absolutely worthless and one more player setting a half ass predicted ball screen. It seriously looks like watching a morning shoot around warm-up drill. I guess our players don't have the basketball IQ to move without the ball to score, its a basic concept. The underclassmen are not gaining anything this year and if it continues the trend for the rest of the year it almost seems like a waste.

Our current offense is really easy to defend. We miss a lot of shots around the rim, but that is because defenses pack it in and I don't care who you are, its really hard to score when you have 4 defenders in the paint. UC acts like they are a run and gun team and I think they were against better teams like Iowa St. and Oregon. That is also when you started seeing production from G and Sanders. But we have gotten so far away from being an up and down team because teams have found a way to play d against us.

You can get only who you can get, Mick does not have the recruiting financial resources of a UK, UofL, Duke, etc. In addition to being the basketball coach Mick also has to raise money for recruiting, charter flights, etc. Do Calipari, Pitino, K, Williams, etc. have to raise money to pay for stuff? If you want to help out with recruiting costs go online to gobearcats and donate $1,000 to become a member of the tip-off club. Donations are used to pay for recruiting expenses.

What is wrong a blind old man named Ralph who can't see the games and too dumb to comprehend anything is still allowed to make post here. Every time you keep disagreeing with me Ralphy, I know I make sense. Thank you and keep it up. :)

There is a reason why the Indian Tribes refered to the elder members as "wise old men" and sent the young ones to get slaughtered by the US Cavalry.

Yea, Jackson was tearing it up in the tournies last year all right. Hell, he almost got to double figures in points in one of the games. That 2 point, 4 rebound performance against Texas was very memorable. Almost as much as the 3 point, 0 rebound performance against FSU...I wish we'd get more of those out of him this year.....Oh wait, we have. 0 points, 1 rebound against SJU, 4 points, 3 rebounds against Pitt. 0 points against New Mexico..Whatever were we thinking?

Well somethings gotta give.

If you cant get the talent then run an offense that will help your "less" talented recruits score.

I call him the human turnover. I've never seen someone get man-handled so easily on offense. Does provide defensive sparks at times, though. Oh well, take the good with the bad.
