Rumor is that Xavier is making you purcahse other games in order to see Crosstown Shootout.

Trying to use the UC name to move other games ticket sales?

Mid Major move Kcourt

They must be doing something right, as they had better attendance than UC last year.

As always The Ralph is correct. I stated yesterday XU has lost season ticket holders, they have been trying to sell tickets by Enquirer and billboards for at least a month now. Their season ticket base would not buy up the tickets for the UC game so they had to have a public sale and require the purchase of other games to sell some tickets to the other games.

Have you guys ever thought that maybe they did this so Xavier fans would be purchasing the tickets, and not UC fans? If you force UC fans to buy tickets to other games, they would hesitate a bit more to buy them. However, a Xavier fan wouldn't mind having to pay for tickets to other games, because he/she wouldn't mind going to other Xavier games. It's common sense to do that, if you don't want an opposing teams fans buying all the tickets.

Again, maybe UC should take some hints if they want to sell some tickets. Then again, if UC forces opposing teams fans to buy other games in a "mini package,' they may never sell out a game.:D

No, Xavier is doing this because they are having a difficult time selling tickets. They do not care who buys the tickets just as long as someone does. Xavier is experiencing a declining season ticket base, UC on the other hand after years of decline because of the BH firing, is now experiencing an uptick in season ticket sales.

Laughable.

Why do we have 10 threads involving some terrible team who plays in an even worse conference?

Come to think about it... Most of these threads are made by TheGreatXavierStudent, coincidence or new fan?

Exactly, they are only worth talking about for 1 game a year.

I hate X as much as the next guy, maybe more, but this is marketing 101 for selling sports tickets. When you have one game that is a guaranteed sell-out, you try to sell as much add on as you can. The Reds have done it for years with opening day, the Bengals in years past have sold mini-packs with the Pittsburgh game in it and others with the Cleveland game. And our beloved Bearcats for years made people buy football season tickets to get basketball season tickets (and I believe season tickets to their CCM concert series or something too). And last year they had a four game pack to include their primo games (including X) and guess what it worked great as at least two of the games sold out and I believe the Georgetown game ended up a sell out as well. Honestly I would've made fun of X more had they not done this. And UC is in no position to make fun of other schools for declining ticket sales. We lost 22% of our football season ticket sales after 1 bad year. And we all know the trials we've gone through trying to get support through the Mick Cronin years. UC fans and Cincinnati fans in general are about the worst when it comes to being bandwagon supporters.

It is sports marketing 101 when you have a need to sell tickets because fans are not buying them. No reason to do it if you are selling out every game. Simply points out that X is having trouble selling tickets.

Ralph from everything I understand you are a great and loyal $upporter of our beloved Bearcats and for that we are grateful. My only point is people (and I mean in general, no one specificly) in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. I remember scoring some Crosstown Shootout tickets a few years back because UC couldn't sell out their allotment and then hearing X fans mock us saying "thanks for the tickets" at the game.

That is true, UC has had problems selling tickets ever since the BH fiasco, that is not news and no where in my statements have I denied that, and had to do two for one deals, $15 tickets, mini-packs. That is what XU is doing now because they are having problems selling tickets.

Ralphie,
I am a UC and an XU fan. You seem delusional when it comes to Xavier. All schools sell mini-packs and Xavier does not do two for one deals. They averaged +10k in attendance last year in an arena that seats 10,250. Both schools will have a great year and i hope UC does better attendance-wise.

XU is having problems selling tickets. They have been trying to hawk them since mid September. I know people who have drop their premium seats at Cintas, XU ticket base is declining.
