How do we copy X - free throws

BearcatTalk

Help Support BearcatTalk:

Because we want to refine our free throw shooting to win more games - it's something that can be done with technique and focused practice...it will win (or lose) games

So bc of this we need minute by minute updates on every Xavier FT attempt?

perfect example is today's X game...outscored from the field by Depaul....from the line, X = 19-25, 76%
Depaul=12-20, 60%

forget that X had more attempts...reverse the percentages & Depaul wins 75-73

I don't mean to harp on this, but imagine if we had to make a huge comeback to squeak by the worst team in our conference at home and the X board had a thread to praise our FG% defense or something. That'd be really weird. It kind of screams little brother.

Aren't we? The numbers don't lie

when then win 2 National Titles and go to 4 final 4's consecutively come talk to me. There are some numbers for ya.

How about just 1 Final 4 ever? Our fans love to focus on tournament success and X is the shining example people like to use for some reason. Lol.

Because we want to refine our free throw shooting to win more games - it's something that can be done with technique and focused practice...it will win (or lose) games - I use X as an example of what we aspire towards (in terms of free throws) - somehow they seem more relevant than Liberty, Central Michigan or William & Mary, all of whom shoot the crap out of free throws but don't have the talent for that to make a difference...We do, & I want to see us have an edge in an area where the opponent can do absolutely nothing to stop us.

So one good year and we should focus on being like them? No thanks I'd rather learn on my own then from X. And why wouldn't we look at teams that are actually better consistently? Just because we don't play then they aren't relevant, that doesn't even make sense. I'd rather learn from a traditionally well FT shooting team than someone who just has good/bad years like most teams.

X struggled with DePaul yesterday, they're playing good basketball right now, but theyre definitely not a lock for the final four so don't get too excited guys.

How many people on this board were actually alive to see those final 4s and NC's? The FF in 92 is probably the only one.

I don't think a program like UCLA or Indiana is going to forget the banners hanging on the wall just because some fans weren't born yet.

Our banners aren't coming down no matter who was there to see them hung. As long as we are a relevant program we should point to those banners. It's our history and we should be proud of it. We should be proud that we have been a top tier program for almost 30 years now which was 30 years after we hung National Champs banners.

I do agree it's time to see another banner hung. Conference banner and NCAA tourney banner. A conference championship (tourney and/or regular season) and an elite 8 or better would be nice.

I'm one. Actually a Co-Captian Carl Bouldin from the Championship team was from Norwood. He also played baseball and has the distinction of playing in a NC basketball game and Professional baseball in the same year. He is from a family of 4 boys. Jack Bouldin played at Mississippi St. Very nice people. The Bouldin Brothers. I see a few of them at some of the games now.

We will officially rename this board MuskieTalk.com. Hell, we might as well do that anyway.

We may have to change the board name but I am going to need a count first. I haven't done a lot of research but can anyone tell me how many National Championships Eggs has? How about just semi finalists? Let's also count up their total final 4's.

Let's add all of that up. What are we looking at? 5 or 10? It must be significant the way some fans are talking. There is no way it could be zero.

I know UC is tied 7th in history in Final 4 appearances and 8th in National Championships. So Eggsavier must have done better from what it seems.

Surely Elite 8 is not the barometer we are going to rank a program by right? So maybe we can eliminate this completely meaningless category? Elite 8? Who keeps track of that besides Eggsavier unless it's the actual year it's being played nobody cares right? I mean besides disgruntled UC fans or X fans posing to be UC fans...who is counting this stuff?

It's a what have you done for me lately. Not what you did 60 years ago

Kids being recruited today arent looking for schools that last won a title 60 years ago. Ucla hasnt won in years but their name pulls way more weight than Cincinnati in the recruiting world. These kids want to play for a team that gets to the tourney every year and moves past the 1st weekend.
