We killed them in the paint.

Bottom line they made the plays when the game was on the line

We missed a FT that would have given us a 3 point lead.

We fouled while trying to go for a steal.

Davis hit his 3 and we missed ours.

Game over.

Would have liked not to call that timeout before the FT but to get the ball past half court and then call the TO. From that position, UC could get the ball to Clark much easier. The last two shots UC got off were long three's from Cobb...

Exactly. And I am not blaming Clark at all bc he played a hell of a game but he never makes FT's when the game is close. That and one would have been huge. Also, LD can not call a timeout when X was shooting the one and one. You let him shoot them both then do what you want. Terrible coaching decision.

He made one basket in the second half. Only shot the ball 5 times, once in the second half. Not sure he even drove the lane once in the second half. That isn't good enough for this team.

9 points in 35 minutes for him. That's nice for a role player, but I agree, we need more.

Cincinnati beat X in the points in the paint, points off turnovers, second chance points and bench points but they made 6 less three pointers. Again I go back to Larry Davis and his unwillingness to make in game adjustments. That first half barrage killed them and he stubbornly stayed with. the zone while it happened.

Yes he can because KJ still plays well on the defensive end.

The 2 is just a mystery like the 3. As soon as you think one guy wants to own the position they fall apart. Cobb is 6-21 the last 2 games and 3-14 from 3. Nobody wants to step up and get it done.

I'm ready for anybody to step up but Cobb has to be more consistent, KJ has to build his confidence and trust himself, and Morman has to allow the game to come to him and play in the system the team has set up.

You cannot keep running KJ out there. You just can't do it. I like the kid, but he can't be out there. He has a lot to do with why our offense is so bad. We just can't keep letting him play. He's shooting under 30%.

2nd half plan seemed pretty clear to me. Get it to Clark and DeBerry isolated down low and let them work. Caupain hit the shot when he needed to and grabbed the huge offensive rebound and nailed both FT's in the clutch.

People are wanting Caupain to be something he's not. He's not a volume shooter, he spreads the ball around. He has a very smooth game that isn't flashy and put up his stat line without anybody realizing he was contributing.

Like I said the only thing he did wrong was not shoot enough

TC has his 10 effortlessly points every game. He was like ghost until free throws. Was arguing with teammates during timeouts

I think the tendency as fans is to overreact to every loss. This team is young. They play like it. They're inconsistent in their effort. Sometimes their defense is great. They made some huge stops and kept X from scoring for about 7 minutes. They also gave up an open 3 at the end and made a critical mistake by fouling with the lead.

But tonight, I can't fault the effort. They have to learn to execute down the stretch - and in half of their close games against good teams (SMU twice, San Diego state) they have. In others, they have done the opposite. They have all the markings of a team that is young but has some talent. If UC makes the tournament, which I think the loss to X would put us at 5-4 against the RPI top 50, we still look good against what is a soft bubble. I certainly wouldn't want to play is as an 11 or 12 seed. There just isn't much separating teams after the top 10 or so this year.

Edit: I really hate auto correct.

I'm just tired of the players not being put in a position to succeed. More and more I'm starting to like our players, and dislike our coaching philosophy.

Tonight sucks more than words can describe but this season will be defined by how they finish. If they play the way they played in the second half from here on out we will be just fine. Find a way to make to the NCAA is all that matters right now.

After the way the selection committee screwed the AAC last year I'll only feel safe if we win the conference tournament.

You know what the worst part is? They will keep running KJ out there. No freaking clue why Mick and LD refuse to tinker with lineups when they aren't working. Why on earth did KJ and Sanders start again in the second half?

I don't want Caupain to be a volume shooter. But he must be the floor leader and he has to use his size and strength to drive to the basket and make something happen. He was way too content tonight (and most of the season) just letting the defender push him out on the pick and rolls.

It's coaching all the way. I sit on my coach and see Clark likes to gamble so you tell him not be hero play straight up, also tell Caupain to tell him also. You got to know situation your in.

What is stopping LD from making changes? Is he choking? I mean we all saw this coming, not only all week, but also in the moment. What gives? Seriously, he might cost us the tournament.

But he gives you 10 every game only one that can say that and he gets constant crap from this board. Leading scorer, leader in assist, averages over 3 rebounds a game. Second leading ft shooter in the conference, or was a couple games ago. Shoots over 46% and 41 % from the 3. Troy Caupain is not the problem with this team. The wing positions are the problem with this team and I have said that since the beginning of the season.
